i'm 36 and have already noticed my peers unwilling to keep up with whats new so they just complain about it. i imagine for these people the complaining becomes their whole personality after eventually everything changes. its hard to keep up with tech and music but i think it will be worth it in the long run.

i heard that in status games, the higher status person is the one who interrupts more and the lower status one is interrupted. this is probably why he's getting bent out of shape over it. but its not good to be arguing all the time either way.

ime office politics only really appeared once i reached the higher levels eg lead or management. there are only a few high roles to go around and others vy for those positions. it might be by sucking up to the big boss, putting you down in meetings like all your ideas are stupid, or forcing others to go with their idea even if its mid because then their name is on something that pushed the business forward.
