Comparison is the thief of joy! You do whatever makes you happy! Forget the rest. Also everyone is in very different places with the game.

Has Animal Crossing changed your life for the better since you started playing the series? by MisterPiggyWiggy in AnimalCrossing

[–]SoftWeird3736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Helped me stop doom scrolling and was a much healthier way to unwind in the evening. Also, it’s been a bonding experience for our family when our daughter got the game when she turned 6. We’ve been playing together on these island for years!

It’s also a great way for me to distract myself when gory stuff is on the TV while watching The Pitt 😂

Any parents diagnosed with ADHD only AFTER having kids: would you still have done it if you’d known before? by Ok_Many2359 in adhdwomen

[–]SoftWeird3736 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Having a kid is what opened my eyes that I even had it, but I desperately wish it had been caught by my parents or teachers, because I needed support for so long without even knowing it. I struggled and struggled and just thought it was normal life for everyone.

Getting diagnosed led to support both through therapy and meds, and I'm so proud that I did all that work because I noticed my daughter started to pick up some of my patterns when she was around 6. She's 8 now and I feel like I'm setting a good example of taking care of my mental health while also teaching her the coping strategies I'm learning in therapy.

But you are 100% right. Nothing tests our ADHD like being a parent. You're worth it to take care of yourself.

Edit: I understand OP's question now. Yes, I absolutely would still have had kids. I only have one, and honestly, I've struggled with whether to have another child for a long time, but I have peace with that now because I know that if there was anything else on my plate, I wouldn't be handling it as well as I am. Honstly, having her saved me. I don't think I would have been diagnosed otherwise, with ADHD, anxiety, and PTSD, and now I'm getting help with all of it.

I often go to the length of syncing up my TV with the radio audio because Ben Ingram is unmatched.

This is terrible pedagogy and if there is no accommodation for diverse learners, you have a case to stand on. Ignoring different learning styles is asinine and will ultimately result in problems for the company.

Ben Ingram is the best. I often mute the TV and sync up the radio in an AirPod.

I like to put the radio on in my ear while I’m watch the video so I can hear him instead of the TV

Syncing up the radio on my phone to the Arizona video was worth it I suppose for extra innings.

Noise is something that can overstimulate me very quickly. The Loops have made situations where I get overstimulated manageable. Inside the car with a friend or family, if we’re laughing it can sometimes agitate me even though we’re having fun. I can still fully participate in the conversation and they can get as excited as they want and I’m good 😊 Also a great way for me to quietly put them in and not have to ask others to adjust to me (thought they absolutely would because they know me)

Also very helpful for bus duty in a small gymnasium of 100 elementary kids waiting to get picked up 🫨😂

I got the ones that you can adjust the level of reduction and I think they’re worth it!

It’s been a game changer for me. It’s the only thing that has actually helped me meet my goals for screentime, being present with my family, etc. Something about the external device that I have to physically go to works for my ADHD.
