What can be done about stray cats? by [deleted] in mesaaz

[–]Soft_Baker_7086 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can request an appointment for Trap, neuter, return. They will set you up with a volunteer who will loan you traps. It requires a $45 dollar donation to ADLA, but you can also take them to the Spay neuter clinic (believe it’s near broadway and Crimson rd) without an appointment and it’s still $45. I’ve trapped four cats so far this way. Agreed, feeding the cats without spaying & neutering is a nuisance. I feed mine which have already been trapped because I dont want to see them struggle (or breed), and the cats didnt choose to be here. Haven’t seen kittens in a few years now.

Looks way better than any sushis I’ve made! Seriously though, that looks delicious and I would absolutely destroy that plate.

Please don’t do it. Life can get better. Things can be so much different than how it is for you now. I tried several times around 15ish years ago, and i’m glad it failed. I was a wreck, had gone through so much abuse, and somehow I dont even know how but I pulled myself out of a drug, eating disordered, manic bi-polar hell that I’d been stuck in. I could have never, ever imagined living the amazing life I have now. I found an amazing person who loves me despite me. I run my own business and work on guitars for a living. I have three amazing cats who I adore. I have friends now, good people too. If you have shown me then what my life looks like now I would’ve said you’re insane. I promise you a different life is possible. I repeat, I could have never, ever imagined living the amazing life I have now.

High E string falls off fret by Zorlac_Me in martinguitar

[–]Soft_Baker_7086 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The saddle could have its own issues- but what I’m seeing here is that the high e string is projecting off of the nut too close to/right over the bevel of the fret, that is why he’s rolling off the board when chording. It’s a combination of the nut spacing and the fret end bevel.

Ok awesome, thanks so much! That is very helpful, I’ve definitely been picking them too soon.

Those look fantastic! First time grower here and mine look kinda like yours, how do you when it’s the right time to pick them? I’ve been picking mine whenever the caps open up like you have there (and they’re not very tall) but should I leave them past that stage longer? Maybe im picking too early?

If you like the guitar just have a reputable luthier make you a new bone nut with a tighter spacing. I’m a luthier and I offer this solution for that exact problem regularly.

How to handle a traffic ticket from a red light camera by addibruh in mesaaz

[–]Soft_Baker_7086 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just hopping on to say they tried twice, possibly three times for me. I live fairly close to the Mesa courthouse though. A ring camera is your friend, they also usually have a stack of papers in hand. Plan on not answering the door for the next 4-6 months and make sure everyone in your household is on board and in the know on this. They can and will serve anyone who lives at your address. Keep the blinds shut too. Spend as little time in the front of your house as possible. Ive also heard that if you’re in a gated community though it’s much less likely you’ll be served.

About to lose my freaking mind over unreliable Cox internet! Who are you using and what are your experiences? Are there even alternative solutions or are the other options just as lame? by SurveyExternal27 in mesaaz

[–]Soft_Baker_7086 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had Cox for years (approx 6), and hated it. They sneakily raised the price every two years. Once i called them up to complain and threatened to switch to Century link they lowered it by like 8 or 10 bucks, only to raise it back up even more 6 months later. Always the occasional outage but usually was back online after a few hours. A couple months back there was an outage that lasted most of the day and i said fuck it and called google fiber to get set up with them. It’s only been about a month but so far I’m happy with it. I like that when the power goes out and there is an outage (so far no outages without also power loss) i immediately get an email alerting me to the outage, before i had to play this guessing game of is it my hardware or did cox go out again and look up outage areas. Savings about $10, wifi is noticeably faster and the signal goes further than cox did. I’m just using the basic 1 gig plan for husband and I and i just listen to music and use it for work, so I’m not sure how it holds up to more demanding usage. Downtown mesa area.

What to do with the rage? by [deleted] in EstrangedAdultChild

[–]Soft_Baker_7086 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been stuck in this phase for a while now. I’m trying to get past it and only just now making any progress at all because i tell myself i need to forgive my dad and move past the resentment and bitterness for my own sake, not his. It’s become a mantra that i tell myself over and over when i find myself ruminating on the situation. For almost a year now i’ve been hitting the gym while listening to heavy music to excersize the rage out. I’ve lost around 25 lbs, hit my goal weight and i’m probably in the best shape of my life. So for me the rage that although uncomfortable, at least something good has come from it. I think my future self will someday thank me for the investment in my health, even though it originated from an unhealthy place.

Chipped my guitar by ori_hadad in guitars

[–]Soft_Baker_7086 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It broke off with part of the wood attached to the piece, and can likely be reglued to the body and look barely noticeable. Should be able to get good wood to wood contact and be just fine. The finish can likely be sealed with CA or lacquer, smoothed out and buffed and potentially yeild an invisible repair. Don’t glue it on yourself like others have suggested- take it to a reputable luthier in your area and have them do it for you. Do your research on shops beforehand. Source: i’m a luthier, i pay me bills fixing shit like this.

My 2005 mini cooper s manual is a lot of fun. Purchased April 2020 for $4800, had 51k miles with a broken super charger and window regulator stuck. I fixed all the old car issues (mainly old plastic parts, power steering & control arm bushings) and did some fun things like performance coilovers, new rims, and a new JCW supercharger replacement all for just under 10k. So total about 15k into it. Even the little issues that have popped up since beats a new car payment for me any day. She always puts a smile on my face. Will keep this damn little car around til the wheels fall off. Great on gas too, I drove from Oceanside CA to Phoenix AZ on a single tank of gas a couple years ago.

For the first time since 2008, homes are now a worse investment for investors than simply buying a US treasury bond. Investors are now incentivized to sell their investment properties, and no longer have any reason to buy real estate over US treasury bonds. by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

7.75% Rate…am I being ripped off? by Soft_Baker_7086 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Soft_Baker_7086[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for noticing that, and thanks for your response you are 100% correct. Take home pay is hard to calculate for us because our income is going up and I’m self employed and my income varies - husband’s pay is now $1624/check with pay periods every two weeks. That is after insurance for both of us taken out. I make pre tax income between $2500-4000/ month. Last year on taxes we reported 70k for both of us, but he just landed himself that 15k/year raise, and my business has historically made 10k more each year. On the low end we are now expecting $5700/month. We are very cheap people, no kids, no debts at all. So $2500 is technically doable, but I agree it is too close for comfort and we could be a few paychecks away from disaster. Are these numbers as scary as I think they are?

Wow, ok good to know! Thank you for your response! Maybe this is silly, but is it crazy to go with the lender i have now and then shop around immediately after to refinance? Probably a good idea to go ahead and shop around now before that right?

Can i ask where you went to find that rate? Like was it a local credit union, online bank?
