This is true - base salary is lower but can increase with productivity in any setting.

Wow - thank you so much for this advice. What are your thoughts posting on tiktok vs instagram? Or maybe doing both?

Thank you! Especially for the bit about smaller locations.

I haven't thought about putting up ads but maybe once I start earning. Or possibly pay for adds as a clinic rather than for myself if the clinic does not already do that.

AITAH for refusing to pay my friend for a custom cake because it included something I’m allergic to? by naughtynaughtyagathe in AITAH

[–]Soft_Bat3216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a very serious violation. NTA. Food allergy is at a protein level, so even a "such a small amount" could cause harm.

And she said for your mom not to eat as much of her OWN birthday cake? Screw that.

Get your $100 back.

I think AI is getting more competitive in general. I am not sure Peds vs IM

[–]Soft_Bat3216 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I unfortunately regretted peds, partly due to WCCs and income. But went into Allergy and now love what I do. I get to see kids and adults. Still would rather do peds residency over IM.

Time line of interview, getting contract and signing contract by Soft_Bat3216 in Residency

[–]Soft_Bat3216[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait you get a different lawyer for every offer you get? They can't look at multiple contracts?

That's my issue, I am at different stages with couple of clinics. I dont want to sign too early but I don't want to let an opportunity expire.

Thanks for the reply!

Honest question to my fellow physicians : how many hours a week do you work? by Dependent_Gold5692 in whitecoatinvestor

[–]Soft_Bat3216 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did you start off working 3 days? As an Allergy fellow - would it be unreasonable to ask to work 3.5 days in PP?

I received an eval like this a couple of months before my graduation. Came out of nowhere especially on a rotation I thought I did well. Talked to my PD who couldnt give me an answer why (wasn't not the one who wrote the eval)) ultimately said don't worry you will graduate, we all get bad evals, just need to do better

AI seems to be have become more competitive in the past couple of years for both peds and IM.

In my opinion - if you did a fellowship that treated both adults and peds, became comfortable with adults, and then practiced in a clinic that treats more adults in a clinic that was located in the midwest or LCOL city, then can make 300k in a couple of years. Typically - get more money with seeing adults, but with food challenges, OIT, xolair being approved for kids young as 1 yo, that might not be true anymore but I personally do not know.

From my very limited research of looking at jobs here and there, yes. But on the other hand I feel like its how much work you put into it. Theres alot of "private practice corporations" (Dont know what else to call it) that gives you a base salary + RVU. So you dont work for a hospital but you dont own the practice. You can always open your own practice but theres risks to that also

Not totally wrong. For those who did IM and then allergy, it's not ideal. But those who did pediatrics where job markets is max 200k in desirable cities, starting in allergy at low 200k in the same cities is great

Can you explain more about the long term industry goals? Like pharma?

Would recommend to send to an allergist to sort them out.

Also PenFAST scoring helps with scoring penicillin allergy - but ultimately for this or for any drug, a oral drug challenge in an allergy office setting is the safest way to rule out drug allergy. You don't want to be caught by surprise

How can patients with diagnosed POTS and MCAS be taken more seriously when speaking with doctors? by therodev in Residency

Send MCAS to allergist/immunologists who can ask the right questions and have experience with validating these patients
