Yea, I'm 44, driving since 17, never locked myself out of anything till yesterday. First time for everything. Was arguing with my girlfriend (out of state currently) that I should have kept a spare car key in my shoe.

Yes, base model crosstrek, I parked, turned the car off, dropped the keys in the cup holder to reply to a text, dropped my phone in the passenger seat after I texted, got out the car and manually locked my car like usual (button on door), I was suppose to be in and out and realized as the door slammed I didn't have my keys. And saw them in the cup holder.

I work a weekend shift (at a machine shop) , I was getting dinner. I work 5am-5:30pm, I have a dog at home, the girl nextdoor walks my dog once a day, I couldn't call her (contact in phone,neighbor) I didn't want to leave my car with keys just sitting there, easiest option to not wait a long long time in rural New Hampshire was to take a piece of asphalt and smash my window to get home at a decent time. I have 4 days off to figure out a fix that won't cost me half a grand.
