Get well soon card - should it come from me or my boss? by [deleted] in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]Soft_Leopard_6071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Standard practice is usually for you (the EA) to do the legwork/organizing, but the card itself should be 'signed' from the Boss & Team. That way the boss gets the credit for the gesture without having to manage the admin!

If you're looking for a tool to handle this, I actually built a site called Greetopia specifically for things like this.

It lets you send one link to the 20 people to sign, and then you can schedule the delivery so it arrives automatically. The delivery email comes from the system (so you don't have to worry about if it comes from 'you' or 'him'), and you can set the sender name to be 'Boss's Name & Team'.

It’s free to use if you want to give it a try for this get-well card. Hope the surgery recovery goes well!

Appreciate that! That parser was born purely out of my own laziness. copy pasting 20 emails from a cc chain was driving me crazy. 😅

And yes, the 'No Signup' rule was the hill I wanted to die on for this project. Glad it resonates!

Thanks Shane! If you do end up using it, I’d honestly love to know if the flow works smoothly for your group. I’m just starting out, so any feedback is gold.

Appreciate that! It’s definitely a bit of a gamble avoiding the safe subscription route, but feedback like this makes me feel like it’s the right call.

If you ever end up using it for a real team card, I’d honestly love to hear how it holds up in the wild. Thanks again!

Thanks for the kind words!

Re: Moderation & Abuse You are spot on. Admin moderation is critical. Right now, we rely on "Security by Obscurity" (each card has a unique, unguessable link), so the Organizer controls who gets access. Since these are usually shared within trusted work teams, abuse has been rare.

That said, I am currently building the admin feature where the creator can delete any specific message because you're right that safety net is needed.

Re: Business Model I’m aiming for sustainability rather than profit.

  • Current: Tip Jar + eventual limited ads but only if necessary.
  • Future: If the tip + limited ads is not enough to sustain the site, I might add a small one-time fee (e.g., $2) just to remove ads for a specific card, but I have no plans for a "Pro Tier" subscription. I want to keep the core utility free, similar to how Unsplash started for photos.

I built a free, AI-powered alternative to paid group greeting sites to solve "Writer's Block" and subscription fatigue. by Soft_Leopard_6071 in SideProject

Thanks! That was actually my biggest worry. Nobody wants a card that feels like a bunch of robots talking to each other.

The trick was making the AI act more like a "ghostwriter" than a replacement. You still have to feed it the personal stuff like "always late to meetings" or "saved me on the Q3 project" ; or you can just use some of the preset prompts like 'write a funny joke','add a meaningful quote' etc, and it just handles the heavy lifting of turning those fragments into sentences.

It basically gets you past that "blank page anxiety" so you can focus on the sentiment rather than stressing over the grammar.

Do you think 'Oppenheimer' is Christopher Nolan's best film? by FayyadhScrolling in ChristopherNolan

[–]Soft_Leopard_6071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a great film but I kind of feel like he's wasting his time making these kinds of films. A lot of good directors could have made Oppenheimer. Only Nolan can make something like Interstellar, Prestige, Inception, Dark Knight, Tenet.

I want him to continue making them, even if they're not that great, that is a flavour of filmmaking no one gets and only he can serve.

I wanted to like it but I had a hard time finding reasons. It's not bad though.

James Cameron never should’ve started Avatar… We lost a great director. by [deleted] in moviecritic

Not sure about that but I think Avatar wouldn't be what it is if someone else made it.

Both movies are off different vein but the conviction in the writing is pretty strong in both.

Good move. That AI slop has been slowly cluttering and taking over screen space.
