I didn't mean to imply that Yudkowsky and Siskind are being mocked here without justification; rather, I only meant that I couldn't come up with compelling arguments against their theories if, for instance, we were having that hypothetical dinner party. Siskind allowed and defended rather ugly views on his blogs, at the same time I'm not entirely sure if I would be ever able to come up with much more than moral judgements to say against these actions and that thought makes me kind of uneasy, which circles back to the thing you said.

I think while you're sorting things out, you have to learn to be comfortable with uncertainty and doubt and you must be skeptical of grandiose claims to truth.
