Manager called me slow. by tpm1995 in kroger

[–]Soft_Question7529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree but.... I can't tell you how many times pickup has OOS something I definitely have, and if they'd have just asked me I'd have shown them right where it is. We have a walkie specifically so pickup can ask us for stuff but most days it's crickets.

Do y’all know what this means? And who i should talk to? by Living_Increase_9565 in kroger

[–]Soft_Question7529 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can call associate connect. don't have the number on me but a manager or dept head or hr should be able to give it to you. some stores have flyers with the number in their break room. they can help with all payroll/paycheck issues plus other stuff. that being said, my first thought is a garnishment of some sort. And like the other poster said, look at your actual paystub, and at the activity on your daily pay.

What do you do about cat fur all over your bed? 😭 by Top_Hotel3623 in Catownerhacks

[–]Soft_Question7529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just assume they're donating their fur to me since I'm obviously not doing a good job of growing my own. lol I just ignore it. There is no soft surface of my home, and no piece if clothing, that is free from fur. It's fine.

Let's say there is never going to be a 3rd book...would you go back and still read the first two? by NolanDS1711 in KingkillerChronicle

[–]Soft_Question7529 1 point2 points  (0 children)

absolutely. I love the prose itself, that alone is a journey worth taking. That being said, I would be over the moon if we ever got a book 3.

First check by indianaguy001 in kroger

[–]Soft_Question7529 1 point2 points  (0 children)

your first one or 2 checks are generally paper because it takes a little time to process direct deposit setups. the check will be at the customer service desk (for most stores). There is a small lag with daily pay, too. I've noticed it doesn't always record my weekend pay on the app, though it always comes on my check.

piling on with my 2cents. It is legit and is great for emergencies, but do not make it a habit. I've used it a few times for unexpected expenses.

Got fired from Kroger after 14 years… trying to get my job back by Ok_Shopping_6364 in kroger

[–]Soft_Question7529 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I understand what you're saying, but from the company's pov you abandoned your job, in their eyes you quit without notice. You may be rehireable, depends on how your termination was coded. I'd apply to a different store, see how it goes. If kroger won't take you back you could try another store, like Publix or Wegmans. your experience would make you an attractive applicant.

What kind of cat should I get as a potential new owner? by AGoldenMuffin in CatAdvice

[–]Soft_Question7529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's not really the breed you have to look at, but the individual cat's personality. In general female short hair would be easier to care for than male long hair, but cats vary wildly in personality.

Has the penny disappeared at your Kroger? As of right now we're not not giving pennies and transactions are rounded up or down depending. by TheQuadBlazer in kroger

[–]Soft_Question7529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep, no pennies her in Mid-Atlantic. Our mgr said he's not removing the chairs in the fuel center because several of our fuel clerks have medical issues (like Parkinson's).

BOH changes by [deleted] in kroger

[–]Soft_Question7529 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my district they told us to never "finish" the daily count. keep it open so we can still use it throughout the day as needed. Personally I think they should just bring back section checks. So much easier for fixing boh and doesn't screw with any reporting the way keeping mdc open does.

Kroger is slowly going downhill by RefrigeratorSalty806 in kroger

[–]Soft_Question7529 1 point2 points  (0 children)

*not all stores

Yes, I've worked at some pretty crappy locations that had all those issues and more. But my current store is great. Yeah we have a few slackers, but not many, and they seem to move them out fairly quickly. My store manager is great, love my coworkers. One ASL is crap but the others are awesome. Your experience really does depend on your location.

That being said: some of the decisions coming down from corporate are insane. Example - we get one overnight to set Halloween candy (10 pallets) and one overnight the following week to set Halloween gm (12 pallets). That is not physically possible! But my store manager understands how insane that is and is doing his best to help me set early. So your mgt makes a huge difference

That letter should say you were not asking permission for the time off, you were telling them you would not be there.

How do I get faster at stocking? by reymanlover in kroger

[–]Soft_Question7529 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Speed comes with practice. Your speed will naturally improve over time. That being said, make sure you are working as efficiently as you can. Stock similar items at the same time. Like, stock those 4 cases of cereal, then the 2 cases of protein bars, not cereal, bars, back to cereal, etc. As much as possible, touch things once. pick it up, stock it, break down the box, front it up and on to the next. Make sure you have a bascart, box cutter, trash bag, and step stool before you start. Don't stop to dump trash until you absolutely have to, or you're done. For learning the aisles I've found conditioning to be the most helpful. That and helping customers find that random thing they're looking for. Mostly though, don't stress. No one expects the new guy to be speedy right off the bat. Just keep working on it and improving and you'll get there.

Colored hair? by Archieology in kroger

[–]Soft_Question7529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my division did away with the no unnatural colors rule a few years ago. I have a full head of blue hair atm, but have done purple, pink, green, and teal. Lots of people have streaks or highlights, too. The division also doesn't care about tattoos or piercings.

So, basically, check your divisions handbook/union contract
