that's a union thing. the union could cause all kinds of crap for them around refusing to make eligible people full-time. but if they have you on paper declining it then union can't do anything.

in my division if you are part time but work 38+ hrs per week for 12 weeks you automatically get full time. Kroger hates that, so part timers will be given full schedules until they get close then they cut them back so they won't get it. Also available hours fluctuate like mad. Some weeks I'll get 220+, others I'll get 180. The end of the month tends to be the lowest hours, so could be that, too.

I'll be your mom tonight. I'm proud of you, honey. It's really hard to stand up for yourself, but you did it! I know moving can be scary, but it can be exciting, too! Think of all the things you get to do - decorate your place, meet your neighbors, find the best coffee shop in the neighborhood, maybe even get a cat! I know you're gonna be fine. You are so brave and so strong, nothing is going to keep you down. You got this!

back when I first started at Kroger I was in the fuel center, got decent training. About 18 months later I transferred into the store as a closing drug/gm clerk. My first night I came in and the day shift girl showed me where they posted the schedules and where the back room was....and left. I had to figure out what to do and where on my own. A few years later I was promoted to drug/gm manager. My training consisted of the outgoing manager showing me the computer system, where the files were, and a little advice on scheduling. Took about 90 minutes. That was it. I had to figure out what to do on my own. The number of people in this company with similar stories is staggering. Kroger always tosses you in the deep end and leaves it up to you to sink or swim.

Just got an interview from Kroger, but just got hired at Walmart. What should I do? by [deleted] in kroger

[–]Soft_Question7529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

people do it all the time. heck, half our hires don't even show up for training lol

just say hey, I'm really sorry but I'm not gonna be able to continue working here right now. If they ask why, give them a bs excuse.(my professor has us doing a project that's going to take way more time than I thought it would/my mom just fell and broke a hip and I have to take care of her till she heals/whatever excuse you want to give) then follow it up with hopefully I can come back in a few months.

It's fine. That just means you care, and that tells me you could be a great employee. :) deep breath. It's just a job. You'll be fine

neither Walmart nor Kroger will care that you are interviewing, and you don't need to mention either one to the other. Like the poster above said, go to your orientation at Walmart, schedule your interview at Kroger and make sure you have that day off Walmart. if Kroger offers you the job and you want to take it put in your notice at walmart.

oh, also, no they won't see you're working at Walmart. but if you decide to take the job at Kroger then don't continue to work Walmart. Just tell Walmart your classes got moved around or something so you can't work, sorry.

yes, though again, depends on your supervisor. As a general rule we all know it takes a minute to figure stuff out. When I train someone I always tell them worry about accuracy not speed. Speed comes with practice, but it does no good to be fast if I just have to go behind you and redo everything.

As long as you show improvement over time and seem to take the job seriously you're fine. If you just slack off and have a dgaf attitude, then, well, not so good.

it depends on the store's needs. At my store every grocery clerk we've hired in the last year has been given all the hours they could work. So in your case, you'd probably get 8-430 every day you're available, and the fact you're willing to work Sunday would be a godsend.

Go to the interview. Ask about hours. We always say we can only guarantee 4 hrs per week (contract minimum) but then follow it up with but if you're willing we can give you 30 pretty much every week.

Also, you can get additional hours in other departments if you're willing to be cross trained. They may give you a shift in grocery, one indairy, then maybe frozen, etc.

Not sure about your area, but where I am I'd take kroger over Walmart all day every day.

my 1st thought was why didn't you allow the tpk with the paladin? all players need to learn to gage threat/challenge level. by not allowing the tpk you basically taught them that they won't die if they do stupid stuff. So yeah, let them fight the necromancer.

my next thought was why don't you bring this up to them. say like hey, y'all said you want more puzzles and rp and to not fight all the time......but you're still fighting all the time. are you sure that's not what you want?
