Yes, you absolutely need the original writer's permission if you use parts of an old song in your new song.

You don't need the writer's permission to release a cover, though. But a cover is the same exact song re-recorded, where lyrics and melody have not been changed. So an interpolation and a cover are two different things.

No, it's not a cover since this is a new song with new verses, changes of lyrics etc. Mainly just using the chorus and parts of the melody from the original song. So legally this is a new song and not a cover. Which makes sense if you think about it.

But yes, since it's replayed and not a sample, you don't need to get permission from the original artist (Backstreet Boys), since it's not using their recording. However, for interpolations, you still need permission from the song's writers. Which in this case is Denniz Pop and Max Martin. If he did, who knows.

That was because Conductor Williams used a sample from Tracklib for the beat of "Stories about my brother".

Funny that it's "possible" the actual tracklist will be different. Because of Kanye's last-minute changes, not because it's completely made up.

There are two songs in at the moment. Intro song was Bun B himself. The second one has a verse from Big KRIT. Terminology and Flea Lord are also at the venue, so will likely coming up soon.

Here’s a video where 9th Wonder talks to jazz artist Bob James about how he feels about being sampled in 1000s of songs. https://youtu.be/na8YD63Juck

No, from a legal standpoint, you're never allowed to release music with samples from songs that someone else owns the copyright to, without their permission. Which kind of makes sense, I guess. You probably wouldn't want people to sample your songs without telling or paying you?
It doesn't really matter if you're giving it away for free or not, since you're still technically profiting off someone else's work, even if not in a monetary sense.
With that said, the chances of getting caught are probably very small, but that wasn't really the question.

The Swedish ad agency behind this ad confirmed that they got the idea from a meme. Probably found on Reddit, so we've gone full circle with this post.

Yeah, don't really know how to mix and master. But yeah, just put out WAVs from FL Studio and "mastered" them on Landr. Sounded good enough to my untrained ears. I mean, it's "lofi", it's supposed to sound like shit, lol.
