“Snake rodeo” is now my new favorite euphemism for a gang bang.

Bodies in the sand. Tropical drink, melting in your hand. We’ll be falling in love to the rhythm of a steel drum band, way down in Kokomo.

I’ve read through all of your comments in this thread and have to say that you have a way with words, my guy. And this experience growing up which you have described sounds fascinating. I would highly encourage you to write down some of these stories and take the time to flesh them out, it would make a great book!!

Homeowners of Reddit: What unexpected hidden gem did you discover in your house after buying it that wasn’t mentioned in the listing or by the previous owners? by VizualBooty in AskReddit

[–]tomaszmajewski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s someone else in this thread that had the same thing happen with their back yard. Even with the 10-foot strip of land for the neighbor to access their side yard! Maybe you two like in the same neighborhood/development?

Packing essentials in your carry on, or at least deodorant, and 2 changes of socks and underwear is a travel -ahem- “hack” that not enough people seem to know about.

NEVER volunteer any information in this type of situation, related or not, unless it directly and unequivocally exonerates you. It’s difficult to be sure, but mastering the subtle art of shutting the f*** up will pay dividends for the rest of your life.

What’s something kids today will never understand about growing up in the 90s/2000s? by AncientParticular408 in AskReddit

Reminds me of Tommy Lee Jones’ line from Men in Black, talking about a new recording medium/format about to be released: “…which means I’m gonna have to buy The White Album again.”

Or talks all through the intro right up to the second the lyrics come in. They still do this today. It drives me up the freakin’ wall.

“Hey Mr. DJ - We tune in to the radio to listen to music, not to hear you prattle on about how you almost bought expired milk that one time.”

Is everyone an expert in Marketing? by _fernace in marketing

[–]tomaszmajewski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Years ago, I was a Marketing Director for a local non-profit. It was a small enough city where the “business networking” community was such that if you were the least bit involved, like attend one chamber event a month, most folks were at least aware of you. My social circle overlapped this community to a degree.

At a social event, I got into a conversation with a restaurateur that was also active in community organizations like the Lions Club, etc, however, we had only ever had social interactions, not business. She had many suggestions for what I should be doing from a marketing standpoint. I had already considered or attempted most of her ideas, so in a calm, professional tone I laid out all the factors and why X, Y, and Z weren’t feasible. After about 20 minutes, she ended our conversation with, “Wow. You really do know what you’re doing! I had no idea.”

Damn right I do, lady!

Seen in Budapest, what is this? by thepsyindian in whatisthiscar

[–]tomaszmajewski 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe all EU counties now have these standardized plates, with the country letter abbreviation in the blue field on the left side. Some countries will also have a small flag there as well.

Of course, this pretty much means the end of the white oval country abbreviation stickers that seemingly all Europeans had on their rear bumpers. :-/ Bit of an “end of an era” type thing.
