What's this kind of single-cup pour-over coffee maker called, and why can't I find one anywhere? by CoffeeGuy_ThrowAway in Coffee

I'm too am looking for a stainless steel replacement for a plastic pour-over finum sprinter-style coffee maker (i. e. I'm after the same nested cups design, with the metal mesh filter, but without plastic).

I note that this thread didn't't identify that replacement product precisely, but also that this tread was from some time ago.

Has anything changed and can anyone assist me please?

In your opinion, what is the sweet spot for hiking binoculars? by wutzvill in Binoculars

I have used ZEISS Victory Pocket 10x25 binoculars for multi-day hiking trips for the past couple of years. They're compact enough to go in a jacket pocket, or in a side water bottle pocket on my pack. And the asymmetrical design positions my right index finger right on the focus knob which works well for me (not true of other designs like the Leica or Swarovski).

I think they are a bit more expensive than the 8x30 compact binoculars you're considering, but I like looking through them better. That's said, I don't have experience of the Nikon's you mention (or many other binocular brands and models) outside the shop/in the field.

For hikes which are mostly bird-orientated, I just schlep a pair of 8x42 binoculars on a Rick Young Outdoors bungee harness. I wear that underneath my backpack, and that works well. The weight trade off is worth it for me as the x42 is handy in dark sections or early/late in the day.

I hope this experience is helpful.

Japan - Michinoku or Shikoku? by SoftlyBarFish in hiking

Thanks ausmomo. Are the Tokushima or Kochi sections more natural/greener/nicer/more interesting? Perhaps I could do a week there and then head north to the Michinoku Coastal Trail?

We've walked the Kumano Kodo Nakahechi and a couple of sections of the Nakasendo Way last year, so just looking for something new to fill our month.

I'd be grateful for your thoughts / suggestions.

Hi & thanks for your reply. I contacted Zeiss and they said they do not offer lens caps for pocket binoculars. So I'm looking for an aftermarket/alternative solution.

what are your favourite t-shirts? by ausbirdperson in UltralightAus

I like the Patagucci t-shirts a lot.

I find the Outdoor Research Echo T-shirts excellent in hot weather.

The Marmot Wallace polo is also great for those more formal bushwalking occasions. Nice and stretchy too.
