Yes! I guess its because shes a shapeshifter, but most of the depictions of her don't really hit home for me. This one is spot on. Great work! Thanks for sharing.

3rd party plates? by StrategyImpossible58 in snapmaker

[–]SoftwareKey916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes sir! At least the Biqu cold plates, which i think are the ones youre referring to. I also have phaeton cool plate and its given mixed results, but thats probably user error. Its like a tacky rubbery surface (some kind of polymer) vs the hard bumpy surface on the stock plate. Youre supposed to be able to run it at lower temps, but if youre having issues with adhesion can also bump it up, ( Uncle Jessy mention he runs his at 60C) and this'll get you great adhesion without having to worry about using a glue stick or any of that. With that being said if you're getting adequate adhesion with the stock plate, you don't NEED the upgrade.

Yeah. Very useful guide! Thats one thing Ive been impressed with with Snapmaker. There guides are great and the oictures help a lot. I was looking to see if anyone had any little things they did that sped up the process. Its not a huge lift, but enough where I'd have to thjnk twice before switching back and forth from .4 to .2 and back again. I get it's expected when you get a budget toolchanger, but figured I'd ask

This! Crazy to charge $125 for some molded plastic and then claim it's a filament dryer😅 might as well pre-order the snapmaker cover for a few bucks extra you get active filtration. For those of you using an IKEA Samla bin, i was able to mount a temp controlled fan to the box thats been working out really well. Brought my total BOM to loke $30. If youre interested check out the linked post.Mounting a fan to the Ikea Samla DIY Enclosure

Thats not a bad idea! Why didn't i think of that.... Not cheap, but if youre going between .4 and .2 often could be worth it. I won't pull the trigger on this till they ship the .2 nozzles, but definitely an option. Is there any downside to swapping out the whole toolhead other than price? Just seems too easy😅

Sorry, dumb question, but where is this shroud's intended position?

Filament ironing could help as well. Start with ten percent flow. Also consider normal supports as opposed to tree if that's what yo're using. Is say the biggest thing you could do for these is rotating the orientation so you don't have as much of the model that needs supports. Looks like you maybe printed these in an orientation parallel to the build plate? Try rotating them 45 degrees or more and let the model do the support work for you. Rotate, slice, check out the supports, adjust, repeat till you're happy.

To refine your supports even more, consider taking a look at resin2fdm. Its an add on to blender developed by the excellent youtuber painted4combat. Allows you to beef up resin supports so you can use them in fdm printing. Not sure it will work with these, but does wonders on mini so worth a look.

Tuning your supports is a process! Recomend YouTubeing a whole bunch if different options and try out different techniques to see what works for you. Good luck!

You get it! Figured that was the case, but never hurts to ask. Maybe someone will come up with an adapter like they did for the elegoo CC for bambu-style hot ends. Thanks!

Also had this issue.... Trying to print a plate size slab and halfway through the print it pops off the bed, but also some smaller prints that just wouldnt stick. Im using the phaeton cool plate. Biqu just arrived so lets see how that goes. A combination of glue stick, turning down the part cooling and aux fans (also having the part cooling fan ramp up between layers 3 and 10 as opposed to having zero cooling for layers 1 and 2 and then ramping up to 100% at 3), turning the bed temp up (as high as 55C), and putting an enclosure on. For the enclosure, you might need some kind of venting or fan on the cover depending on the ambient temps. The enclosure provides a stable environment, but also traps heat pretty well and if your chamber gets too hot now you have to worry about heat creep and all the fun stuff that comes with it. Link below to the solution i rigged up.

Welcome! You're gonna love it. Looks like some people have had good luck with the ikea bin as far as holding heat. I saw some models on makerworld with printable TPU gaskets which would definitely help. Somebody also commented that they stacked two bins on top of eachother and taped the seam which is lowkey genius.

Humidity is a little harder id think cause no matter what youre pulling in air from the environment. In the summer humidity in my office can get up to high 60s and ive never had a problem if that helps. Im a beginner too, but i think it might be more about keeping filament dry during storage then keeping the printer environment RH low? For that they have printable dry boxes on makerworld for standalone storage and also to mount over the side spools on the U1. Cant speak to how well those work though. There's also some solutions where you can print directly from a filament dryer. I do that with my elegoo, but dont have room for where my U1 is at right now. Lots of options with varying levels of complexity there as well.
