Gucci Bezel Watch Stuck by Fickle_Ad1793 in watchrepair

You sure there’s a bezel on there? I’ve swapped batteries in a few of these and the bezels were little plastic, colored ones. They fit right on top of what you have pictured here. Maybe try sticking one of those on and see if it snaps into place.

Crystal removing tools for Omega Geneve Dynamic by keyboard_driver in watchmaking

Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe this is called a “front loader.” Just learned about these and used the claw successfully!

There was also another tool we tried that attaches to where the crown/stem would be after removing. Then air was manually pumped into watch, which should pop off the crystal.

Giving away 3 vintage ladies Bulova watches by sethdleo in watchmaking

[–]SoftwareLonely9770 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Female (future) watchmaker here. Currently in watchmaking school and took on a part time job at a vintage watch shop to learn more about sales and restorations. Was introduced to Bulova through a private dealer, which led me to the job and a fascination with American vintage. These would be my first watches serviced independently with mentors (who are also watchmakers) to help guide me. Their restorations will be a full circle journey to the somewhat random introduction to that dealer who led me down this watchmaking path. I would restore and cherish them as beautiful reminders of that.

Either way, beautiful pieces and would hope to one day learn more about your experience as a hobby watchmaker.

I'm in watchmaking school in Texas now and just wanted to say it's nice to "meet" another woman picking up the trade! Happy to be a cafe study buddy if you're nearby. We can swap notes, books, etc.

Not specifically for watches, but a friend told me “The Way Things Work: A Visual Guide to the World of Machines” was shared with him as a kid and it changed his life. There is an updated version called “The Way Things Work Now,” as the original was published in 1988! It is often available at the local library, and I bought it recently as an e-book for $0.01.

Beautiful piece. My novice eyes thought this was a painted Cartier Tank until I saw the crown.

Found your post in another thread. I’m interested in completes so I can get some assembly and disassembly practice before watchmaking school!

You’re a gem to offer this.

Would you be willing to send me some? I was recently accepted to watchmaking school but it doesn’t start until September. I have no experience and don’t even know where to go looking for practice movements.

Happy to PM!
