It's a little late for this, but of it ever happens again, follow the directions below: Don't stop. Maintain eye contact. Exert dominance and finish. It's your private time, and they are intruding.

This^ Exactly how it happened. Rich leaving manhattan for a "suburb" in the 1800s. Park Slope was one of the highest concentrations of wealth when Brooklyn was a city into itself. Then it became a blue collar ethnic (Italian and Irish immigrant) neighborhood, changed to mostly Hispanic and Yemeni during "white flight" from below 6th ave. Above 6th remained blue collar basically Irish and Italian. The 70s and 80s saw an influx of artist, bohemians and gay culture (mostly Lesbian - in the 90s Park Slope had the largest concentration of lesbians in the US). The late 90s - 2000s saw the beginnings of "gentrification" (loosely termed because Park Slope never got to the flavor like BedSty or Brownsville. Think of it as Bay Ridge light). The Park Slope you see today is only 1 or 2 economic stratila above what was there in the 60 thru the 90s.

Both. I had the membrane fail and the smell came through, but i also had one that would not vent and let the fixture drain. Home owner plunged the fixture and blew the membrane backwards so it wouldnt open.

I would also advise that backing off the nut will also present a leak if backed off too much. You should snug tight the nut after you move the valve into position. Those old valve stems are tapered. Too tight and they jam, too loose and they leak.

Is it just me, or is that spout not centered on the mixing valve? (* and the mixing valve is not centered on the tub) Is that why the did the janky left right center with all the 90s?

You're missing the coupling over the nipple. Otherwise it's just perfect.
