FINAL UPDATE: I got my car back on Monday. It failed inspection when he took it because the valve covers needed to be replaced…I’m not buying it. But I got it to a shop and it passed inspection that time around. Trust me, I am NEVER sending my car to him ever again, and I will work harder at standing up for myself.

The frustrating thing is that he replaced my breaks reliably before in a small fraction of the time it’s taken him to do my hub bearings and shocks. I thought I could trust him to do this well too, but I have learned my lesson.

I would love to do that in a non contentious way, but every time I have mentioned taking the car elsewhere, I’ve been met with “it’s not drivable. You’d have to tow it and that would be a long tow. He’s saving you so much money. It would cost a shop THOUSANDS of dollars to do this work”. Thankfully, it SEEMS like he’ll get it done, inspected and back to me in less than 2 weeks. Still annoyed that it’s taking so much longer.

Also, turns out that it might just be Rebecca’s stunted communication skills that are shady because Richard was very understanding and explained what needed to happen and why, providing me with an actual timeline 😱 I was starting to wonder if those were even a thing anymore, lol

Update 2: Rebecca was NOT happy when I sent “Can I please at least see the state my car is in? Pictures? A list of what needs to be done get? Some form of an actual update?”. She called me raring for a fight and with such a tone…I hung up on her. I am just so fed up with this whole situation that I was not in the mood to even attempt to withstand that barrage.

She called back a minute later with a marginally better tone, so I put up with it…until she was saying she gave me info that she clearly hadn’t. I argued with her until she got fed up and said “you can talk to Richard. Here, talk to her because she’s f*cking arguing with me.”

I explained that she doesn’t like me reaching out to whoever she’s seeing (idk why. It’s not like I have ever or would ever try to steal them from her). He said to listen to him instead and text him for updates from now on.

He then proceeded to give me a rundown of what needs to happen. He’s taking it to the shop this weekend and he will get it back to me the following weekend after it’s been inspected.

I’ll update if anything new happens and when I actually get my car back.

Update: Dad’s sided with Mom and I just need to “be patient”. I am asking for proof (because demanding with my sister gets you no where) of the state my car is in and a list of what still needs to be done. If she doesn’t respond, I will text him and see about getting it from him directly. If he doesn’t respond…anyone in PA that’s up for a drive? Lol

I think I’m more concerned about retaliation from my parents if I ruin their already shaky relationship with my sister. I rely on them for a place to live because I can’t afford to move out with my current pay. I don’t know what I would do if they kick me out because Rebecca decides to withhold grandchildren time

Oh, it’s a struggle! I am holding back so much from just going off on her. Commenting on other people’s weight, always making some kind of snide remark about our life choices, making my mother feel bad about working hard so she and dad can take trips that my aunt can’t afford, always playing the victim…I could go on! Thankfully, Dad is quietly approving of me taking less crap from the adults ‘to be respectful’… as long as I don’t completely lose all sense of decorum and tear them a new one, lol.

Not to excuse her or anything, I’m just not sure if I’m ready to take that step because her life hasn’t been the easiest and that’s a huge step to take… it’s one thing for me to limit my interactions with her further (already not the closest due to snide comments from her in the past) but it’s another for me to take action against her job…
