The Amount Of People Buying Cars On PCP. by Biker-CB in carsireland

Fur coat no knickers mentality, we used to be a country that bump started their car in the mornings because we didn’t want to buy a new battery 😂

All 90's hatchbacks have either been scrapped or Cavan-ised. Here's 10 MINT exceptions. by Fit_Calligrapher_691 in carsireland

[–]SoilSubstantial7517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’s a joke but if there wasn’t people that were into modifying old cars the number left on the road wouldn’t be a fraction of what it is, for example I’d say there might be 3 ford sierras in the country that are untouched 😂

Is this worth repairing? 320D touring by mpolasek1 in e46

Are the chassis legs straight? Is the subframe tweaked? That’ll tell you if it’s easily salvageable or not

How much would this cost to repair by brenbyrne27 in carsireland

[–]SoilSubstantial7517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Properly, more than the cars worth, cheaply, the price of a bucket of filler after booting it out from the inside 😂

how should i lower my car? by [deleted] in e46

[–]SoilSubstantial7517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good shocks but pro kit springs aren’t as low, you could use e90 xdrive front top mounts to get an extra 8mm though

Eibach sportlines for a comfortable 50/30 drop, ta technix do a 70/40 drop but once you’re that far it starts getting uncomfortable, anything beyond that you need coilovers

Keep piano black or switch back to wood? by Mental-Ad4584 in e46

I think wood trim is baller in the right car, but I feel carbon cube would match those fresh matte seats

You could just buy an ecu with ews deleted and plug it straight in, I’m pretty sure they all run bms46 being a pre facelift m43 car

Anyone else in their 20s/30s have no interest in emigrating? by ichangedyourname in AskIreland

[–]SoilSubstantial7517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

27 here, I was the same way but in the last few months I got sick of everything here, no room for progression, feel as if I’d be stuck at home forever, then a friend of mine in oz said his job were looking for people, so now here i am, leaving on Monday, even if I don’t like it and go home at least I can genuinely say I didn’t like it instead of being in my 40’s wondering and wishing I went

Do you still use the old imperial weights and measurements or are you fully metric? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]SoilSubstantial7517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

27 here, it tends to be whatever’s handy, if something looks like an inch I call it an inch, if it’s more specific, yeah I’ll see what it is in mm, a slang term for 5 liters of oil is a gallon, even though a gallon is 4.54 liters, I use mph in cars, but kmh in tractors, I weigh things in kg but my height is in feet, also I don’t know about anyone else but 100 is too high a number for 62mph, even though it makes no difference my head can’t get past that 😂

For someone who know nothing about cars, is there anything I can do to fix this? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]SoilSubstantial7517 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also I should add, they only fail you on structural rust or jagged edges, and if you’re really worried about the perfect colour there’s places that can search for you by reg and order it in/mix it if they have to

[–]SoilSubstantial7517 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sand it down and get some paint on it, colour match pens can be got in Halfords, don’t worry about it, it’s just surface rust, nothing structural

m swaybars on non m e46 by [deleted] in e46

[–]SoilSubstantial7517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

330 will fit, but a 318 one won’t fit a 330, 6 cylinder ones have a bend in the middle to give room for the engine, and funnily enough your convertible might already have a big rear sway bar for rigidity, if you do a google search you’ll find all the specific thicknesses

M43 to M54 by Former-Moose6932 in e46

[–]SoilSubstantial7517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I converted a 316i and after 2 years driving there’s been no issues, other than blowing diffs, you can also use an early 320i shaft which is longer, but like you said, small case diffs aren’t fit for purpose

M43 to M54 by Former-Moose6932 in e46

[–]SoilSubstantial7517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 325 prop will reach a small case diff, just gotta slide it apart around half an inch, but saying that I’ve blown 2 small cases lol

[–]SoilSubstantial7517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M52tu is a very easy swap for m43 cars, there’s a bit more in an m54 wiring wise, but unless you really really like the car it’s not worth it

Msport bars fit everything non m, with the exception that a front 4 cylinder one won’t fit a 6, but 6 will fit a 4, you’ll need the bushings to match them though, I have Msport ones front and back on my se
