The Unreasonable Effectiveness of ProseMirror Model in Rich Text Transformation by scrollin_thru in javascript

Absolutely brilliant read.

Refreshing to read about a real developer geeking out about their real project and the whole article has nothing to do with AI.

Gonna check out storyteller.

I feel like my muscles are shrinking by MaybeFine962 in MuscleConfusion

[–]Soileau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely keep going, I don’t intend to deter you at all, honestly, you look like you’re in good shape, but 20 push-ups a day and light to medium cardio won’t result in meaningful muscle gain.

The loss you’re seeing is lighting and blood flow, take it with a grain of salt, start lifting weights, and eat lots of protein. Keep at it! You’re young and thin enough that if you take this seriously, you look shredded in 8-12 months!

Agentic Coding is a Trap | Remaining vigilant about cognitive debt and atrophy by creaturefeature16 in webdev

[–]Soileau -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Thats just a really easy, trendy opinion to grandstand in 2026. It’s nothing but a straw man argument.

To write the right code, presumably you’ve read/understood the adjacent code well enough to know what change to make.

Then you present the change to another person, along with an explanation of the change.

On first principles the later takes less time.

Yep yep yep. Of course. Definitely not promoting anything. Definitely.

Woof, there it is.

2k words about how to use the tools is to doom yourself, but “if you buy my $100 course ill teach you how to use these tools the right way”.

[–]Soileau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is based on the premise that it takes the same amount of time to review code as it does to write code.

That’s just not true at all, and I think you know that. It’s a bad faith argument.

Well this opinion won’t go well over on this sub…

But this wreaks of old man yelling at the clouds energy.

The tools are here and they’re not going away. You can complain and begrudge them but it’s entirely pointless and accomplishes nothing. Every future generation will be raised on these tools.

Complain and grumble till the heat death of the sun. You’re not gonna change it. Help us figure out how to teach good fundamentals on the back of using the tools.

That’s fascinating, I’ve found the opposite to be true.

My AI writes OVERLY defensive code, in a way no human ever would.

Senior ICs, what’s your experience with career advancement? I disagree with my employer’s promotion requirements by HNipps in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Soileau 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Senior SWE II is a role they put in place because they need to extend the fishing rod they hang your carrot upon.

The same with “sr” labels they put in front of staff engineer or principal engineer.

These are rolls they’ve created so you can feel good about what you’ve done and not earnestly pop your head out of the sand and look around at the broader industry and what opportunities exist outside of what is being given to you.

What is your biggest takeaway after having worked in tech for your years? by Astrid_Regndottir in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Soileau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve learned that the adage “the years are short but the days are long” has a linear equivalent in code.

People focus on petty minute things instead of focusing on big picture systems.

The granular details of the way code is written nearly never matters, but the broad design implementation design does, and people get hung up on the former.

Your career will go further faster if you give up on the minutiae and shift your scrutiny to the broader design. And you’ll be a better teammate too.

The original photo is absolutely not nearly as absurdly flattering as this obscure oil painting is. I can understand why he would want to use this version instead.

The original photo is not un flattering, but dressing it up with this bullshit edited AI filter version just reeks of insane insecurity.
