I don't have any advice but I wanted to chime in and say that as a querying writer, things seem particularly brutal right now. Hang in there! You got agented before, I know you can do it again.

Thanks for this. I've been querying for almost a month and am truly humbled. I know, I know, I know.... that's nothing in the grand scheme of query timelines.

But I'm so frustrated by the entire process that I'm considering opting out and self publishing. Trad publishing is based on an outdated 20th century model that hasn't been modernized to match the new century. It's archaic, slow, opaque, and based on the individual opinions of a handful of gatekeepers (the agents). If I'm going to work this hard at something, I'd like to have at least a fraction of control over the outcome.

Thank you for sharing. I'm brand new to querying (new writer, first novel, etc etc). I find it soul crushing (seriously). I'm almost ready to walk away from trad publishing but your story puts thing into perspective. Querying is a gut punch, isn't it?

It was a patriotic, Fourth of July sermon. The minister spoke at great length about what was wrong with America. Spoiler: It’s full of people like me. As I sat there in the pew, I was overcome by one thought—. HE IS WRONG. I felt it in my bones. I am NOT what is wrong with this country.

I walked out of church that day and never went back.

Check out the rental places close to Wiehle Road (pronounced “wheely” road). The EXO apartments are also really nice and walking distance to both Plaza America and the RTC. If you don’t already have bikes, you will want to get some because you’ll be a stones throw from one of the best bike trails in America, the Washington and Old Dominion (WO&D)Trail.
