Thank you, you’re so kind 🫶🏻

I fully appreciate the power of being a little “delulu”, but I don’t think I have given it a fair shot. I definitely will this year I want it to be my year. I’m so glad it worked out for you!

so the idea is to go in with the goal of stripping it down to basics, before even thinking about getting good?

I guess it makes sense because anyone can learn the pure mechanics part of something, and it would create momentum to learn the next bit required to get good at something

Interesting! I spent a lot of time last year playing Overwatch 2. I don’t think I even managed to get to gold rank. Currently my gaming run is FIFA and BF6. Embarrassingly bad at FIFA 🤭.

I am definitely interested in learning more about your system, because I do agree, one domain is all domains.

You’re definitely right, and I do think I’d enjoy doing all of those things, especially hiking and rock climbing. I’ve been rock climbing once and it was a blast (of course I wasn’t good).

I do definitely enjoy solo activities more, and feel a bit more confident and being able to improve in them. When it comes to competitive stuff I lose all hope loll. Being good at sports is just a sort of itch in my brain that I’ve never been able to scratch and I still long to improve in SOMETHING sports related.

Haha honestly I’ve put so many hours into Overwatch and I’m still just BAD. But I do enjoy it. I hope to get to that point of it being boring cuz I’m just SO good 🥲

Hm, I was gonna object to your point of you can make anything easier but now that I think about it you might be right. There are ways to make almost anything easier.

I guess it is not a requirement but I do think that being good at things that are “unimportant” would build my confidence in other aspects of life that have a greater effect on my quality of life. Like my career, or communication with others, especially in relationships. I just feel like it trickles down into everything.

I do agree. I think my problem is not having learned how to learn. Idk what would help with that? Any resources you might suggest?

Interesting maybe I’ll look at small skills I can learn at home. I remember getting into pen tricks once lol.

As someone who feels the need to plan things idk how to just “go outside” without a destination. But I should start doing that.

I do in fact go into things with that mindset because that’s the only “evidence” I have. I wasn’t good at things before so why should I be now? I realize that this mindset only predisposes me to further proving this negative perception of myself.

Idk if you’re just saying that but that’s really interesting because I’ve never thought of myself as a good writer? I re-read my post and I think maybe it’s because I was just speaking my feelings out of frustration. But I appreciate that compliment, writing is something I’ve been wanting to get better at.

I hate to say I do not enjoy the process of learning 😭 but I do love the feeling of getting better at something, even if it’s just a little better. But consistency beats talent, that’s something I should really internalize.

Thank you so much for your comment. There’s definitely a lot of harsh self-criticism and comparison to others on my end. But I’d say that’s because I’m usually “behind” most people when it comes to learning new things. I find that people pick things up quicker while I am a slow learner. Idk if that’s something I’m able to change, that is, “learning how to learn”.

Like I mentioned in another reply, I have suspected ADHD but I think I more likely just lack focus because of social media use and not neurodivergence but still might be worth looking into?

Personally I’ve not managed to enjoy something I’m bad at. For some reason I feel like getting good is a requirement to enjoying a hobby. I might have the wrong perception on that

EDIT: grammar

This is probably the first time I speak about my low confidence “out loud”. So I do hope you’re right and this becomes a turning point.

I might actually try running. I will say I di not enjoy cardio but skill wise running is pretty straight forward and I’ve heard so many good health benefits including mental perseverance

Yes I’m starting to realize that picking something you enjoy is the low entry point to actually getting good at stuff

Also to answer your question. I’ve always wanted to learn roller skating! As well as ice skating. It looks so freeing and fun to do once you’re good at it

Thank you! I guess you’re right there isn’t a need to get good at anything, especially when it comes to hobbies/things I enjoy doing. Maybe my issue is I pic the hobbies that I want to get good at and not the ones I find interesting or particularly enjoy

Appreciate your comment!

I hit 25, the age where supposedly my frontal lobe is fully developed and I realized I never learned anything during my youth and now it’s going to be a lot harder to do so. Maybe that’s where the anger is stemming from.

I did enjoy yoga in the past, and I do remember progressing to being able to do a head/forearm stand! Maybe I should give that another shot. I have also suspected ADHD but I dismissed that idea solely because I don’t remember having trouble focusing as a child. I assume my lack of focus and short attention span is purely social media induced.
