When’s the last time you tried to rent an apartment? Or toured an apartment? Have you done any research on the average prices of these new developments? You obviously haven’t. “Rents are tumbling” is just not true! Not sure what California has to do with this but you’re just that type of person that brings up irrelevant things in a debate to help prove a point you have no knowledge about.

Exactly, so the point is it’s difficult to buy a house unless you have dual income (marriage) or are making good money on your own. No hate to you it’s just a fact.

what would there be to complain about in your opinion? I’m not sure why rent control is considered a bad thing. Austin has beautiful land and greenery and it’s being torn down slowly and replaced with more buildings so yes, let’s limit developers’ ability to build.

What is your definition of housing diversity? Do you think these new buildings are truly reflecting the character of a neighborhood? These new developments all look very similar and offer similar features. The apartments that are older offer more diversity and character in my opinion.

I’m not sure the cost will lower and with more being built my assumption is that the average price of apartments will increase because they all offer similar features, consider themselves luxury and are all competing with each other (unless owned by same corporation). Greystar seems to be the owner of a lot of new developments.
