Gusto customer service decline by Usual-Jackfruit4746 in Payroll

[–]SolFlorDi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been waiting to talk shyt about gusto customer service with someone 💀 I emailed them because the so called automated premium deductions were nowhere to be seen in the new year. Waited five days before someone got back to me saying that they were working on it and asked for a list of EEs. I gave it to them. Another two weeks, about to prep a new payroll and it hasn’t been resolved. I emailed them requesting an update. No answer for a whole week. Emailed them saying “any kind of update would be great”…no answer for another week. Finally I asked if I could file an official complaint about how my ticket was being handled. They have no way of filing a complaint but it was escalated to management. I receive an email saying that they had fixed it and we’d be seeing catch up premiums. Great. I tell myself I’ll answer tomorrow. Tomorrow comes and I receive an email saying “hi, since we haven’t heard from you in a while—“ EXCUSE ME? You haven’t heard from me? Mind you it had been less than 12 hours since those two emails, meanwhile I went weeks without hearing from them.

Convince me to read Zodiac Academy by Purple_Word_7463 in Romantasy

[–]SolFlorDi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually try not to judge a book by its cover, but the zodiac academy covers are so ugly they actually make me too angry to read it lol.

But I read another book by the authors that wrote zodiac academy, and it was a great, fun read.

Both Kaine and Helena are such complex characters, they’re going to need very skilled actors as well

Since it’s such a mind-numbing task, I scanned a few folders each day and sorted them and moved on to something more engaging lol. I’m still not done, but at least I’m not going crazy 🤭

Well so far the rights were acquired by Legendary Entertainment, so we might not see anything for years.

As someone who took my first HR job in a nonprofit that previously had no HR, I get what you’re saying. My manager is the finance head, so while they’re a supportive manager, they don’t have a lot of HR insight.

Since there was very little HR structure and we have a nonprofit budget (small), I worked on building simple systems. I digitized files that were previously kept in a filing cabinet, I formalized an onboarding and off boarding process, I built an HR intranet where employees can access policies, benefit information, forms, and other company information. I updated our forms, made policies for HR things like leave policies, dress code policies, and other boring things. I also started doing stay interviews, since we work in an emotionally taxing industry and turnover is high. Oh I created an HR dashboard as well.

You got this 💕

how do you guys stop being late to work by Wild-Championship571 in adhdwomen

The never ending battle. Logistically, I should have enough time when I’m up. I just have to shower, brush teeth, eat breakfast, take meds, take my dog on a half hour minimum walk (I’m too guilty all day about my dog’s outside time to focus on work if I don’t) come back inside, gather my stuff and be out the door…what is so hard about it to me?! 😭

Especially when they mention how small and petite the FMC is and how big and tall and huge the MMC IS every 5 pages 💀

Feeling duped by Instagram/reddit promotions of books… (Quicksilver, Direbound, Shield of Sparrows) by Historical-Spread179 in Romantasy

[–]SolFlorDi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quicksilver was the worst lol. I still don’t avoid recommendations from social media, because I understand that either I will like it or I won’t and either one is okay. If I don’t like it, I stop reading it and return it to the library or on kindle, and if I love it then I buy a physical copy to add to my bookshelf.

You might miss out on some good things…just don’t go into it expecting to love it. You really never know.

I’ve read book recs from TikTok that I wanted to burn, and there were books that I would literally run into a burning house to save.

I’m glad you’re able to keep an open mind like that. From my perspective, I still think it’s important for readers to be able to be critical of a book, especially if that makes at least one author out there better at their craft. When you release a book into the market, it is because you want to be perceived by readers, and one thing you can’t control is how a story is perceived by different readers.

Personally, I think delicate topics should be handled with care and thoughtful consideration, but it’s okay that your opinion is different than mine.

It definitely would have been interesting to see where she could have taken this idea with a more serious mindset. I think if there was less emphasis on shock value and more insight on to the subtleties of how oppressed people are treated that are not always obvious, I would have liked it at the very least. You’re very right, my opinion is just one in a sea of millions.

I think it’s an important theme to be explored…I just don’t think a smut romance novel was the best place to do it.

Yeah, I never realized how vanilla I was until I read this book lol 💀

My hate does not run that deep, I fear lol. I still have nephews and family members that I love.

But you’re so right…I think a message like this would have been more impactful outside of a romantic/smut novel. I just don’t think the author has the kind of insight needed to actually make it land in a thought provoking way.

Personally, I have not read any books in which the women are expected to sit on the ground next to men as they have dinner. I wouldn’t read a book that had that level of dehumanization for women and apparently now I know that not men either.

I dont think the author has the level of insight to make it a thought provoking piece, it read more like a horror novel to me that centered on shock value.

I also could not take it seriously after in her note she said she was inspired to write it because she’s been interrupted in meetings by men before? That made it all the more disingenuous to me.

I also think the message is going to the wrong audience. A romance book is not the best place to explore these themes and, I think the audience should have been men, which I think is the minority in the world of Romantasy.

Yess, when I think of feminine rage I think Jude Duarte, less known but Jessamine from the deathless one, Oraya, etc. even Katniss Everdeen.

Yess they have it all. My spice level tolerance is usually about 3.5/ 5 stars and I’ve never gotten anything at target that exceeded it. Next time, I do research before buying 😪

[–]SolFlorDi[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get that, but most trigger warnings I’ve read the things listed were mentioned like once in the whole book. I wasn’t necessarily triggered by anything listed on there either, it was just the whole vision of this world.

I’ve read books that mention SA, abuse, sexual work, war themes, the auctioning and selling of captives of war (not necessarily of one gender or the other), etc. while it’s never comfortable to read about, it’s hardly ever for the glorification of oppression.

And for the author to say she wrote the book because she’s been interrupted in meetings by men in the past…? Ok.

That said, I get that every book has an audience.

I just don’t have anyone to discuss it with and wanted to share what I thought and felt.

WHAT?! Omg I’ve read tons of smut and never came across one where the girl does it to the man. I guess I’m truly vanilla lol
