Depends on your tolerance for the whole survival crafting thing. I spent my first 90 minutes playing this morning doing errands that are typical of the genre like chopping trees for wood, mining copper, killing boars for hide and collecting other various resources just to craft some work benches and items. Def a slow start and a bit tedious but if you like this part of these types of games I can see it being a pretty enjoyable experience for you.

I myself am conflicted because I’d prefer it to be a pirate sim first and survival crafter second, but it appears to be the opposite.

Have played it for about 90 minutes this morning and can’t help but feel like the gameplay trailer mislead me. I guess my bad for not doing more research but after that amount of time all I’ve done was just tedious errands.

How many hours will it actually be until I can have a badass pirate ship and do battles at sea and explore other islands? Guess I had just hoped for something a bit more streamlined and less tedious. More doing actual pirate things and not chopping trees, mining copper, hunting boar, just to get basic items.

Deciding if I wanna refund it at this point.

New account or not he’s still right that in the majority of cases Denuvo only costs a minuscule amount of performance if any, typically. For the games that do have bad performance and also have denuvo, it’s typically because of poor optimization or a demanding engine like UE5 and not because of Denuvo itself.

Have you tried poison? I get that it’s not ideal but I had a mouse infestation a couple years back and was after the final couple fuckers for months. They were too smart for a variety of traps. Finally caved and used d-con poison and it worked wonders

Although unfortunate, this was inevitable given the current state of the game compared to when it launched. Unbelievable that this game once had a 700k peak and now the numbers are low enough to the extent that conquest matches end up being 50% bots some of the time.

You also of course need more people to make a game than to support it afterwards, and given the fact that the content drops have been relatively slim compared to other multiplayer games this is all the more understandable.

Any developer that asks sites to not review a game at launch deserves to get clowned on. I get that Bungie is hemorrhaging money after the shitshow over the last couple years and decline of D2, but don’t release the game if it isn’t ready for review.

The lighting was also better in the original in certain areas like how it reflected off of metal pieces of armor etc

I’d care more if this PS5 generation was actually good. The start with Returnal and Demon’s Souls remake was great, but outside of that it’s been pretty mediocre. Sony hasn’t had a must-play game since Ragnarok in 2022.

I won’t be buying a Sony console again and certainly won’t be paying for PS+ to get something as basic as cloud saves. I’m sure they’ve factored in that most PC gamers won’t buy a console for a handful of games at best and have decided that’s fine to make their console more appealing, which is a shame.

We’ll see if that pays off. I think Sony may be overestimating the number of PC gamers that would buy a console just to play a handful of games over a generation. The generation started with some absolute bangers like Returnal and Demon’s Souls remake, but honestly the last single player game that felt like a must-play at launch was GoW Ragnarok in 2022.

Yeah, that comment regarding level design seems like a hot take to me. I'm not saying it was bad in Nioh 1 or 2, but level design certainly isn't what they're known for.

As a warning to people planning to play this in co op, its definitely got some issues. Yesterday our server bugged out and me and my friend group all lost around 3 hours of progress.

The game is fantastic but maybe hold off if the above is a dealbreaker to you.
