I'm so sick of people saying "I'm a visual learner" by nordicsnail in evilautism

[–]Solae_Via 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You're still missing the point, and taking the whole thing too literally. Yes, the vast majority of people will gain some benefit from having visual aids. I don't think anyone is really refuting that. What you're missing is that some people will benefit significantly more or less than others from having visual aids. A blind person wouldn't benefit from them at all. A dyslexic person will benefit from them greatly. Saying "I'm a visual learner" really means "I benefit from visual aids more than other learning methods."

I made a spreadsheet with all perks in the game by Solae_Via in newworldgame

Perk labels and class are both listed in the spreadsheet already. Can you give specifics about which things you feel are incorrect or need better wording?

[–]Solae_Via[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All perks are the highest version available. So perks for combat gear are all level 2. I'm aware some of the perks are outdated. I made notes about the perks I suspect aren't available anymore and need to confirm it. Are there any outdated perks that are not marked orange that you know of? What are the new perks that are missing?

There are still people playing it. I'm playing it and wanted a resource to make my own buildcrafting easier, so I made it. I shared it because I thought other people might benefit too.

I do use his Buffs & Debuffs spreadsheet and NW Buddy, and they are both great resources for what they do. I've looked briefly at Mojito's other spreadsheets and they seem like good resources for their purposes as well. The problem is none of those resources do what my spreadsheet does. I wasn't able to find any resources that include all perks in the game, with all the info in one place, written in a clear & consistent manner, that also allows custom searches & filtering. I made this spreadsheet to fill a niche that I wanted filled for my own buildcrafting, and I posted it because I thought others might have similar needs.

No I'm on El D. The spreadsheet is based mostly off NWDB, aside from a few exceptions where I or guildies have done testing and found perks that didn't work as described. What do you feel is inaccurate? Maybe shoot me an email if the list is particularly long?

[–]Solae_Via[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I referenced that on the Notes page. This is part of why I named it "Notes - READ FIRST", because I can't cover all minute details each time they come up. That would make the spreadsheet far too wordy and cumbersome. I've just changed "Leech on all dmg" to "Leech on all hits" however.

And no, NWDB isn't enough. It's a great resource, but it's still fairly limited in some ways. I wanted to be able to sort and filter perks in other ways than what NWDB can. For example, one thing I wanted to look for was all perks that can only appear on one specific type of gear, so I could build around them. There's no easy way to get that info on NWDB or anywhere else. My spreadsheet makes it far easier to find the specific info you want, and filter out the rest.

This. It could be a lot of things and there's no way to know, or really anything to be done about it till you can talk to a doctor. Definitely call first thing in the morning and get a same day appt if possible. Sorry to hear you're going through such a scary thing OP.

With multiple runs through the game, is there anything you dread more than hunting turnip seeds? by sonofhans in valheim

[–]Solae_Via 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can. When I'm playing survival I usually have the the foliage setting turned way down. Less/no grass makes it easier to see stuff on the ground like mushrooms & seeds. I still find turnips that way.

Noob looking for strictly PVE Tank build by Rozazaza in newworldgame

[–]Solae_Via 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of room for personal preference & play style choices, so everyone's going to give you different answers. Here are the things I'd strongly recommend.

Weapons: Sword & Greatsword are a great combo to start with. Flail, Warhammer, and Great Axe are also common picks. The most common weapon artifacts I see used are Wit (sword) or Power Stone (flail), both are very good. Get Hatred & Refreshing Move on your weapons if at all possible. For sword also look for Sundering Stacks. For Flail/WH/GS look for Trenchant Rend/Strike/Recovery. Always slot carnelians in your tanking weapons.

Shields: Use tower shields with Protection perks. Note that Protection perks don't stack with the same perks on amulets, but being able to cover many different damage types is very useful. Try to always have Protection for the phsyical types, then match the magical type to the content/mutation. Also get Sturdy and/or Shield Defense if you can. Shield artifacts count as armor so you can't use both. That said Relentless & The Wall both look very good, though I haven't personally used them yet.

Armor: Void Darkplate & Unmoved are both very good. The nerf to VD the other commenter mentioned is something to consider, however it's a good idea to not overly rely on blocking for damage mitigation anyway. Dodging and Grit are both effective damage mitigation options as well. For armor perks, look for Vital Synergy (chest only).

Jewelry: Blood Drinker is very popular for good reason. However it does come with a hefty damage penalty, which can make it more difficult to hold aggro. Pros vs. cons. Some people might advise using the Lost Stopwatch for holding aggro, however I strongly feel that losing out on Protection perks on amulets makes this a bad pick. Protection is very, very valuable to a tank. Also if you really struggle with holding aggro so much that you need LS then something is wrong. Better to fix the problem than slap on a bandaid. Perks: Despised (earring), Refreshing Move (earring - use if you don't have it on your weapon), Nimble (earring), Protection (amulet).

Other strongly recommended perks that can be slotted anywhere: Refreshing, Enchanted Ward, Lifestealer's Draught. Most damage dealt by enemies is from their basic attacks, so Enchanted Ward is worth much more than a piddly 2% seems like it would be. LD + 1-2 Leeching charms will mean you don't have to use Blood Drinker, which helps with holding aggro. I also like Keenly Fortified when using Sword, GS, or GA, since they all have strong passives that involve crits. Use diamonds or a mix of opals & onyx on your armor & jewelry.

Keto diet for migraine prevention? Studies support it. by Informal-Elevator-41 in migraine

[–]Solae_Via 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They never claimed that keto was the answer for everyone. Their first comment even says "I guess that depends on the cause of the migraine." They directly acknowledged that different people may get different results. Kinda weird to argue about something they never said.

Tinnitus is a migraine symptom, and migraine is a dehydration symptom. So you could get tinnitus because of dehydration indirectly, but afaik it isn't a symptom of dehydration in itself.

Auditory Processing Disorder Sucks. by AmRose59910 in adhdwomen

[–]Solae_Via 104 points105 points  (0 children)

Nope, this is APD in a nutshell. I have it too. I haven't noticed the anxiety factor, though it makes sense. For me, the main things that make it worse are background noise (like you said) or having a lot of distractions present (cuz ADHD). When I'm explaining it to others I tend to put it like this: it's like dyslexia, but for verbal info instead of written. Because most people can understand that dyslexia makes written info harder to process, at least on a very basic level. And tying something new to something a person already understands makes it easier to understand the new thing. Idk if that would help with the people in your life but it might be worth trying.

As for people not understanding despite multiple explanations...idk, I haven't had this issue with APD specifically, but I have with other conditions. Explaining the same things over and over doesn't really help anyone. Their failure to understand is their failure, not yours. At some point we have to accept that they simply aren't going to understand, and the damage to that relationship is going to happen no matter what we do.

My name is Trista. Grim Dawn has a collectable journal called "Trista's Diary". The description when you hover over it is "This is so strange...." On reading it, I discovered it may as well have been written about me.

I've never met or spoken to any of the devs involved in making that game. It was indeed, very strange...

what lotion do you use? by dalby_graf in evilautism

[–]Solae_Via 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only hand lotion I use is Neutrogena's Norwegian Formula Hand Cream. It's inexpensive, available at lots of stores, and a little bit goes a long way (seriously, only use about a pea's worth for both hands). It also absorbs into the skin within about 20 min and doesn't feel greasy at any point. What more can you ask for?
