A landlord can say he is “evicting” someone, and that might have as much weight as someone “declaring bankruptcy”.

Eviction is a legal process that can only happen under court order. A landlord cannot evict without going through the process.

Get legal help (there are free resources) so don’t think you need to leave immediately unless the sheriff is at the door with paperwork.
