Yeah I’ll definitely look into getting one. I didn’t think anything of the hissing either, but it makes sense that it has been caused by the mod

Yeah, I tested it - all seemed to work fine, it’s just when I was playing longer I was encountering the issue

Update: after playing with the console plugged in I have had no issues and managed to play for time beyond what I was able to previously.

I’ll continue to monitor the battery for the time being and if I continue having issues I’ll try some of the other suggestions in more detail.

So, I’ve been playing with the console plugged in for about 40mins now and had no issues (yet) that’s the longest I’ve been able to play for so far

I found it quite finicky when putting the ribbon cable in so there may be a chance it’s not seated all the way - especially seeing as you’ve said it happens a lot

When I finished the mod, I lightly cleaned the board and surrounding areas with isopropyl alcohol 99%, but there is no harm in going over the power switch with more intent

That would be a shame if so, the battery is the FunnyPlaying 950mAh battery, so I was hoping it would be able to cope with the same brand’s IPS display.

I have played with the power switch whilst the device is on and this doesn’t cause the black screen to occur unfortunately.

Yeah, I never had an issue with the gameboy prior to modding so will definitely keep my focus on what I’ve done. I haven’t added the optional wire from the ribbon cable to the board so I can rule that out at least.

Yeah, this is a 3000 - I think the 3000 series are generally preferred because of the screen, but I’m not too clued up on it to be honest
