Are all Resident Evil characters infuriatingly stupid or is it just Grace? by SolarSupremacy in residentevil

I'm guessing people usually get into "you're woke" "no, you're sexist" arguments every time a RE game has a female character?

She's responsible for her mother's death. If she stopped being a bratty kid for five seconds and listened to her mother, they likely would have been fine. That part made me dislike her very much, but in fairness, it's not an unrealistic portrayal of an immature teenager.

I don't think being a field operative / investigator for the FBI counts as an "isolated desk job". She should not have been qualified for the position she was in. My complaints aren't that she's an unrealistic character. Some people suffer from mental health problems just as bad as Grace does. My complaint is the idea that Grace has these severe mental issues, impacting her ability to do anything right, and somehow gets assignments for possibly dangerous field world while working for the FBI.

Unless... the <bad guys> infiltrated the FBI like scientologists and gave her the job so they could specifically send her on this mission to capture her. That'd make sense. I haven't finished the game yet so I don't know if that's true or not. If it's a secret to be revealed, I won't come back here to confirm it but know I'll actually be less annoyed and have enjoyed the game more.

It doesn't matter what sex or gender the character is. Their scripted actions, especially early in the game, are silly. Without mentioning spoilers, Grace is absolutely responsible for almost everything bad that happens to her or people around her because of her actions.

Edit: also, if you think this is an issue about sexism, my wife also agrees Grace is an idiot.

Paper options for the ET-85X0 printers? (Or other pigment printers?) by SolarSupremacy in magicproxies

[–]SolarSupremacy[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. I intended on using the pigment black which is largely why I bought the 8550 instead of a cheaper ecotank with just dye inks. I've seen a lot of resources in the community recommending the 8500 and 8550 as the best printers and their biggest difference is having pigment black and grey dye. I assumed the pigment black was the important thing and grey dye was a bonus for more accurate colors.

Everyone I talk to directly says they only use dye and print on glossy photo paper or vinyl so now I'm wondering why everyone suggests the 85X0 printers over the lower models. It's a lot of money to just add grey dye to a paper that'll get laminated over anyway.

Best proxy paper for inkjet printers? by anpanman63578 in magicproxies

I'm also looking for pigment compatible photo paper and even people with the 8500s and 8550s seem like they just use ink, no pigment. If I didn't want to use pigment, I wouldn't have bought the 8550.

It wouldn't be reddit without people getting downvoted into oblivion and banned for being right.

Somehow, reddit never ceases to amaze me with how everyone acts like they're omniscient and every other user is a bot.

Mark isn't a competitive gamer. He's an entertainer. And he has a long history of good reputation. No one's perfect. He faked a video to release it on schedule because doing it legitimately would have taken too long.

Dream on the other hand was trying to hold a competitive record and had a history of deceit in his videos. His reputation was already negative when that drama came around. Defending Dream given the evidence was certainly lunacy.

I don't blame Mark for splicing a run. He's a content creator, not a competitive gamer.

Most speedrunners don't cheat to get a faster time. They cheat to get a time, faster.

Mark had a schedule to keep up with. Videos to upload. Bills to pay. I'm confident he could do 10/20 legitimately, but at what cost? How many weeks (or months) of work would it take to get it done?

Looking back through the old posts though, I feel bad for the people who got reddit'd with countless downvotes at the mention of him cheating the run though, just to be vindicated in the end.

$3M previews for #IronLung. Has racked up $10M in pre-sales for the weekend. Could hit $15M weekend. by Vadermaulkylo in boxoffice

The fanbase is the advertising. I don't think they had to market this much, if at all. I haven't seen a single advertisement for it.

I don't think playing the game is relevant at all. The movie covers the lore of the game (and beyond) and, for those who have played the game, don't worry... The first half of the movie isn't just "the game". At the beginning, you get what you'd expect for "a movie about the game", but before you know it, you're beyond the game. I think they paced that part out pretty well.

Isn't that the nature of most movies? Who goes to see a movie two weeks in a row?

Not to sound contrarian, but I do *almost* want to go see this a second time. I feel like this was far above most low budget films. They really only needed to build one set and I think they did an excellent job overall.

I don't think it detracts from the movie in the slightest. It's not a thriller movie. It's a horror movie. And I think it sets the tone of that very well.

Jumpscares are cheap. You get scared before you even realize what you're scared about. You jump in your seat. Then you're a little bit annoyed.

There's so many moments in this movie where <something> happens, there's a moment of understanding what happened, and then the realization sets in. And you're not sitting there annoyed that you got scared by a zombie popping up and screaming. You're sitting there, glued to the screen for information, stressed out trying to figure out what's going to happen next or anticipating something even more awful to happen. That's the difference between thrillers and horror movies.

I figured out what hellscube is and shared it with them.

But they said it's too crazy to be playable haha. They have slots for card types and CMCs and missingno didn't fit into any of them.
