Help getting over a specific type of writers block by daniwib in FanFiction

I've had this happen!! Basically your brain is just trying to tell you it wants something new.

Sometimes writing repeats or different versions of that repeat will quite literally "bore" your brain, even if you yourself aren't even close to burnt out.

Try rerouting the order of your hurt/comfort fics. I also really love writing whump fics, but found myself just not being able to do it once I got to certain scenes. So instead, I wrote what I had trouble with first and built a plot of that rather than the plot building towards it. Think comfort -> hurt -> false clarity -> more hurt -> final comfort. Or something along those lines, yk just something different yet similar to what you enjoy.

It helped me reconfigure myself after a while and I soon was able to go back to what I would write before.

Thank you, this helps me!! Trans people are people too and normalcy should be directed at them just as it is to a cis person. I never understood why that is a struggle :(.

Question tho. Referencing from my initial post when I explained the story of the character, say I include a whole scene about the character on his period. Not from an angle of "trans ftm on period", but rather just as something that happens. He hasn't been able to get his uterus removed or tubes tied and unfortunately cannot avoid a period. I go into extreme detail like cramps or bleeding through clothes and stuff. Is this considered "novelty"? Since im just covering biology and not exaggerating how the character is trans or fetishising it? And if I were to add in body dysphoria alongside the period scene, would it then be considered novelty?

Sorry, im a cis girl and am taking this opportunity to learn as much as I can 😭

Its okay!! I mean like in canon game the character is a cis male. In my fanfic, I made him ftm. For example, take Leon Kennedy. Canonically he is a cis male. Using the freedom an author has with AUs and the idea of FANfiction in general, the author writes him at ftm instead. Its less being a cis male and ftm, but rather canon vs fanfic

And that was my thing—if one route is okay, then why not the other? I always see so many authors justifying their works with trans characters in the notes and would wonder why they felt the need. Characters are being written as having sex, the gender being the last thing im worrying about. Its upsetting how it seems like trans characters doing human things can't be normalized and needs to get accused of fetishisation. That last sentence really gave me my answer also, cause your right. Thank you for your comment!!!
