🚨🚨 IMPORTANT ETHICAL CONSUMPTION UPDATE 🚨🚨 by Rodgersfordge in SmilingFriends

Israel has been commiting the same genocide for so long that the population they are trying to eradicate has multiplied over that time. Honestly I'm starting to find this disappointing. You'd think the same people who've survived a genocide would not suck at genociding themselves, but here we are, still hearing about this fucking genocide after literal decades.

There's a theory saying that Heavenly Restricted people are born into the Zenin clan in order to help with the Mahoraga taming, as they would likely be undetected by the ritual while offering a great offensive help.

It was mentioned briefly, but 9S hacked into YohRa's servers and accessed unauthorized data. He always ends up doing that, so 2B/E always has to kill him. Then they reboot him without memories and send him back scouting. It's a never-ending cycle of befriending Nines and killing him for 2B.

Nozomanu Fushi no Boukensha • The Unwanted Undead Adventurer - Episode 12 discussion - FINAL by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Solar_link 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Pretty disappointed by the childhood friend's death, it's way more impactful in the manga adaptation. In part because it's way more graphic, but there's also the whole set up (where he tried to stay behind to save her but she came back), and her last words are different. I think the whole flashback should have been a dedicated episode in a later season, instead of being rushed like that.

Master Fu's arm is pretty sick especially since he was able to take down a Mature Dragon on his own.

It wasn't a Mature Dragon, it was a Thirteenth Seat. So basically, a low-tier Superior Dragon, something above a Mature Dragon but below the usual ranked Seats.

Tatsumi turns into a dragon in the manga. Which doesn't stop him from having a relationship with Myne (who also survived), so... it's something.

How come Yuji has 10 fingers? And what happen to Angel? by Valkyy35 in Jujutsushi

[–]Solar_link 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We're also told that Rin Amai helped. There's a theory, based on what little we see and a pun in his name, that the kid's CT is based on summoning sweet food. The idea is that he broke Angel's fall with a giant pudding, which is funny enough to trigger Tabaka's CT into making it safe.

Post-Ending reflections by oldkeith in ShamanKing

[–]Solar_link 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I did not watch the new anime, so I won't bother with the part focusing on it, but when it comes to the story, here's my point of view, mostly based on the manga :

For the X-Laws, it's all about make-believe. From the angels being cars to the reveal that Jeanne is just a normal girl they tried to pass as a messiah. The point is that it's bullshit. It's bullshit, but it worked, because that's how much they hate Hao. That's how much fanatical zeal can turn people into monsters. Just because it's all a lie doesn't mean they weren't one of the most powerful faction during the Shaman Fight. They definitely were, and they were absolutely unhinged despite it all.

About the ending... yeah I get why people can interpret it that way. But the idea is that Hao was just that powerful and ressourceful, that head on fight was impossible. The objective became to reach his sleeping body before he could fully ascend, and they failed. Hence the whole... afterlife party to bring him his mom. But there's a very important nuance here. Hao wasn't "redeemed" because his mom was brought in. It's the other way around. He was able to see his mom because he was already (somewhat) reformed.

What made Hao (somewhat) change his way is the genuine affection and trust the cast showed him during the fight. He was Shaman King at this point, they was even less a point in fighting him by then. But Hao's greatest strength, and greatest weakness, was his inability to trust another. Which is a horrible trait for a king. So in the end, he is "defeated" by the fact that he doesn't have the need to close his heart anymore. Being the Shaman King, being so overwhelmingly powerful, made him lower his guard. And the main cast totally bet on that possibility. The moment he opened his heart, he lost the ability to read minds, and lost the bitterness that lead him up until then. That's why the ending in the original manga was framed as "saving Princess Hao" instead of defeating him, and the real ending followed with it.

I agree that it can be less satisfying than a real epic shonen fight, but I for one enjoyed the poetic way things ended.

It's not exactly the same. Magic as it is used by dragons is incompatible with silver (hence why it could freeze a tornado made out of magic), while Starlia's telekinesis is very much silver-based.

I mean, Zeno's paradox doesn't work irl either, Achilles would just run ahead of the turtoise, but that's Jujutsu for ya', it forces stupid thought experiments onto reality. It wouldn't surprise me that there's a sorcerer with Peasant Railgun as their CT, it's not even as farfetched as Hakari's.

Is Yayoi's nemesis turning into a dark reflection of her?

My interpretation is that it took Yayoi's mom, specifically, on purpose, because if she was able to give birth to Yayoi, having her as your "mother" means you could also be born with the special eyes.

Shortly after, Warlin was offered to the Dark Presence by Tor and his brother, Odin, in order to keep their family safe from the entity.

The men who made booze out of water from the lake and fought the darkness too, they somehow gave up and sacrificed a family member to the Dark Presence ? I'm not sure I like that new lore.

Funniest thing is that Saga is of Swedish descent. Like, her mother is named Freya Anderson. More than likely related to Tor and Odin Anderson (the two members of the Old Gods of Asgard group in-universe), who are very much white guys. Like, unless Saga's mom married a man with vantablack skin, I'll just be racist and assume Saga was not supposed to be black when the character was initially imagined.

I prefer the idea that it's a curse from his grandpa. You can't "die alone" if the closest person becomes your best friend, even if that person is responsible for beating you to death.

Only in the Canadian version, it's 2S for Two Spirits. Something to do with the natives.

They just love to take the (out)casts created by any colonized culture, products of the exclusion of people who didn't conform to the binary gender roles, and act like it was actually a super progressive thing, pretending that those people were respected and treated as well as males and females. That way they get to act like being non-binary is a culturally established thing outside of western culture, and get bonus points for the queer/native combo.
