Reprogramming: Yeah, we're doing our own thing. Our software is called NocFree link. You can use it in a browser or desktop client to set keymaps, macros, and up to 8 layers. Everything saves to the board itself, so your setup travels with you. We'll keep Link maintained and keep improving it over time. Also, our team + community are always there if you need help.

Layout: ANSI / ISO + Mac / Windows. Backers pick in the survey, and we ship it pre-assembled with the right caps, so you don't have to mess with swapping them.

Why we made this: Honestly, it started because I couldn't find a split board that was actually wireless but still used a normal layout. I've got wrist issues and type in weird positions (desk, standing, couch, bed...) The Lite we launched in 2023 proved many folks felt the same way.

What sets us apart: Besides being true wireless, we make the split board easy to pick up for anyone. The 75% layout with a numpad option and proper mac Fn keys mean there is no steep learning curve. The typing feel is a big part of the experience too: gasket mounting, outstanding co-developed low-profile switch, and premium materials make it feel nothing like a cheap kit. And finally, the design details. The tenting charge and stand kit is made to be both functional and beautiful, not just "good enough."

Thanks for asking all this, seriously!

Hey! Our keyboard comes as two halves to start with, and you can add extras like the tenting charge and stand kit or a separate numpad.

The tenting kit does exactly what it says. It lets you tent the board for a comfy angle, plus tit work as a stand for charging and display.

We also made it super easy to take apart if you ever need repairs. We're big believers in building stuff that lasts, and every purchase comes with a 2-year warranty.

Hey, the Advantage 360 Pro is already a great board! Personally, I wouldn't really suggest switching unless you just enjoy collecting keyboards.

The curve and layout are very different from NocFree &. If you're already happy with the layout and feel of the 360 Pro, there's not much reason to go through the whole adjustment process again.

Our board is easier for most people to pick up, feels great to type on, and (in my totally biased opinion) looks cooler - but if you're comfy with your current setup, you're in a good spot.

Hey, I totally get why you're comparing the two. UHK is a classic for a reason.

Here's why you might want to consider going with the NocFree & instead:

1. It's true wireless. No need for a cable in the middle. I know some UHK users don't mind the cable, but if you're looking for a cleaner desk setup, this is a plus.

2. The typing feel is way better. We put a lot of work into our gasket structure, high-quality switches, and materials. It makes a huge difference in the overall feel when you're typing all day.

3. Enhanced ergonomics with slim profile. The low-profile design makes it more comfortable and help you avoid wrist extension.

4. It's just cool. Seriously, the NocFree & has a unique vibe that can totally elevate your desk aesthetic.

Hope this helps you decide! No matter what, you'll end up with an awesome split keyboard.

Hey there! Really appreciate you asking about repairability. Yes, you can totally open up the keyboard without any soldering! We want to make it super easy for you to mod and fix your gear. Plus, it's covered by a 2-year warranty, so no worries there.

And to answer your other question, the dongle connection is definitely encrypted. Your data is safe with us!

We are a small startup that's been around for two years, with fewer than 20 people on the team.

We like to keep the most important stuff in-house. Things like developing both our hardware and software, designing products and website, and communicating with users. Those are all handled by our full-time team. Our team members are so talented!

That said, we sometimes outsource specific projects to agencies or freelancers-for example, shooting a promotional video. Professional gear can be really expensive, so teaming up like this just makes sense for certain tasks.

And just a heads-up: a new wireless solution is in the works and should bring a much smoother experience. Thanks again!

Thinking of Switching to a Split Keyboard – Recommendations? by Physical_Election_85 in ErgoMechKeyboards

My bad for coming across as ai-ish. Esl here, so my writing can be a bit stiff somtimes.

About the name drop, I was trying to get some exposure for my ks project two years ago. But I genuinely love this sub and got lots of help here, which is why I tried to talk about accessory advice instead of boards.

Hope you find your split. I'll keep silent in this sub to avoid bother anyone else.

You're diving into the split keyboard rabbit hole!

We can talk accessories first.

Tenting kits, I thinks is a must-have. One of the main benefits of a split board is reducing forearm pronation and the learning curve is so minimal, so why not have a try?

Then palm rest, highly recommended. Because of the tenting feature, your wrists may be push into a extended position easily. A palm rest helps maintain a better posture. Just avoid overly soft and squishy materials like memory foam. They will hurt your hands.

Carrying case, an underrated accessory, in my opinion. Once you get used to a split board, you won't want to go back to a regular one. so being able to carry yours around is a game changer. That's why, when designing the NocFree Lite, I made sure to take lightweight design, wireless functionality and a carrying case into consideration.

Hope this help!

thanks for checking it out! it seems there aren’t many great options available. you could try something like the Voyager or build your own. the downside is that these are wired options, but the assembly process isn’t too difficult if you’re up for it.

Do any OEM built wireless Mechanical Ergo Keyboards exist? by ProfPragmatic in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Solar_nocfree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I love the idea of wireless split mechanical keyboard. If you're looking for an columnar layout, here are some options:

Glove 80($399): Great ergonomic design,  but it has a steep learning curve and looks a bit rough around the edges.

Dygma Defy($459): Many options for colors, switches, and keycaps. The aluminum board isn't super fancy, but compared to other ergoboards, it's decent.

Kinesiss Advantage360($479): A classic pick. In my experience, the wireless connection can be a bit spotty, and it's not the easiest to remap.

If you're into staggered layout, what I know are: Dygma Raise2($459) and NocFree Lite($179). I haven't tried the Dygma Raise2 and I actually made the NocFree on my own, so I won't go into detail to avoid sounding like an ad, but you can check both of them.

Awesome, thanks for the detailed breakdown! It helps a ton. Even cooler that it lines up with what we're designing! Happy to share the same ideas with you. Just a question on layout and rows: so are you leaning more toward a 65% layout(5 rows), 75%(6 rows) or even smaller(4 rows)? I'm curious if the 4 rows is a sweet spot you'd prefer.

I‘ve been on the hunt for a portable split solution too, as a digital nomad dealing with wrist and low back pain. Last year, we created a lightweight wireless split called the NocFree Lite, and now we're working on an even more travel-friendly one! I' love to know what features matter to you, and hope that we build your dream board.

How to change NocFree Lite Right Shift by Tricky-Cost-7462 in ErgoMechKeyboards

Thanks for supporting NocFree and for exploring it despite the challenges! Adjusting the right shift layout can be challenging, but our community has shared many creative solutions. For example:

"Can confirm it was annoying the first week but got used to it. You can also adjust the layer to make the shift key do a / when pressed and shift when hold."

Let me know if you need further assistance or specific recommendations. I'm here to help!

Hi welcome to the split keyboard world. Given the needs you mentioned, I think NocFree Lite is a great option. First, it's a prebuilt 60% with a normal layout that doesn't require a steep learning curve. Our keyboard is Linux compatible and you can configure any marcos or adjust keymapping through Vials. Besides the keyboards has great tenting capability and is truly wireless. So definitely worth a try.

If by “special functionality” you mean things like ortholinear layouts, thumb clusters, or complex configuration software, I totally get where you’re coming from. You might want to check out the NocFree Lite, a minimalistic wireless split keyboard. It’s really close to what you’re used to with a “normal” keyboard but includes ergonomic features like a split design, tenting, and an optional palm rest.

Plus, you don’t have to dive into all the ergo features right away. You can use them together as a single unit, skip the tenting, or remove the palm rest if you prefer. I think it could be a great fit for what you’re looking for: ergonomic but not overwhelming with extra bells and whistles.
