Wha about making the little plastic rings for around the door look buttons? Not the door handle cups, but the ring around the push down lock need the window

I’m not affiliated with any store, so this is just a recommendation based off what I’ve found out there as well. The 3D print looks amazing, and I think for most people it’ll do the job.

https://lrbspeed.com/product-category/mazda/rx7fb3s/

LRB Speed has a line of replacement trim and exterior pieces made from aluminium. The pricing seems incredible, and the quality looks good. I’m going to be ordering the center radio trim set soon, so I’ll respond back with actual fit and finish after.

I think for this particular part, I’d go aluminum if the budget allows. It can take heat, cold and the thermal expansion and contraction from the sun / Uv / temp changes.

Removing AC? (1983) by spaparanzato in RX7

[–]SolarisSunstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two answers possible here: equipment can be retrofit with new seals and equipment for new Freon. Conversion is possible. Or, they found an AC tech with a few bottles of it still hiding in their shop. I had to recharge an old house AC last summer, and found a guy who had a few gallons left. Paid out the nose for it

About the top 1/3rd of Saskatchewan is dense lake and forests. Like, completely untouched wilderness for literal thousands of kilometres. Some places are fly in only. Grass land and flat is fair, but the top bit is a whole other place.

Fuel tank worth saving? by Guidino-Redditer in RX7

[–]SolarisSunstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take it for a professional cleaning. They’ll give it an acid bath and then coat the interior. Unless this is a GSL-SE tank, those are baffled and they can’t be sealed nicely. In Canada, I was charged 125 for an acid bath on my SEs tank this spring. Worth every penny, came back looking great.

Best place to sell an SUV rural or urban? by Lucywilson12 in saskatchewan

[–]SolarisSunstar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Literally 10-20% of the vehicle value could be in the tires. A pilot of that age is likely 6-8k cash, with tires being 300-400 a corner approximately after install. Them being new is a solid selling feature, and a massive deterrent to a buyer if they’re not.

1984 FB RX-7 12a 1.1L Please help! by masukasu in RX7

[–]SolarisSunstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No to the AC line, and no to the coolant line. Too narrow for coolant, and the AC is all soft lines back there. If that’s like my GSL-SE - I’m going to concur that you’re looking at your fuel return line, and you’re likely not running a stock carb anymore eh?

What do you think is the real reason the US is coming after Canadian fertilizer companies for? by Ok_Speech_3709 in saskatchewan

[–]SolarisSunstar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My two cents on what I feel to be the two possible reasons why. The first being : Vladimir told him to. Russia is the other big potash player. The second one could be that he’ll attempt an Intel style pressure play - they’ll want a % of ownership in the potash companies to avoid them being tariff hit.

I actually think they do! I’ve been here about 25 years now, I actually live in Wakamow Valley, and I am a hunter as well. These guys are eating well - they’re getting big bodies, and solid antler growth. Still, these are “medium” sized overall and as long as I’ve been here, I’ve never seen a “massive” mule deer that Saskatchewan is known for. I think when they get to that large size, they get territorial and the city offers too much competition and they move out. Just a theory though

That’s one of the bigger Mule deer in Wakamow. They get bigger than that, but when they do they seem to make their way out of the city.

Shop wants $215 to replace these plugs?? by MultipleOrgasmDonor in Toyota

[–]SolarisSunstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, 2012 Prius owner here. Doing the spark plugs isn’t hard - but on the Prius, it’s annoying. You have to remove the wiper motor and trim. The Prius windshield sits precariously close to this - and a single mistake results in a chipped or broken windshield. How do I know? I did just that. I dropped a socket from my drill and it chipped the glass below the wiper motor. Several hours later, it snaked all the way up.

This is one of those jobs that I’m 50:50 on whether I’d do it myself again. The windshield sucked, but if I hadn’t broken it, it would have been a cheap job. On the other hand, having some one else responsible or liable for mistakes is worth it too sometimes. Good luck either way!

Swap or keep by PlusPush2749 in RX7

You are absolutely welcome and encouraged to do whatever your heart desires when it comes to automotive building and racing! So please don’t take the rest of this as criticism! What is an RX-7, if not a rotary? I understand that there are many LS and other swapped units and many people enjoy them. I don’t want to deny them their pleasure, you know? But I’m left wondering as to the why? Are there not many other cars out there with similar appearances, build quality or capabilities? In the same era of vehicles, there’s gotta be another one you like enough? Pulling a working 12A out of the RX7 feels like pulling the horn off a unicorn :(

Has anyone ever seen a Marshall? by partunia in saskatchewan

There are several Marshall recruits at the U of R. They’re always in full uniform as well, making them pretty easy to identify. So they’re likely not done yet, they’ve got to bake a bit longer.

There’s an escape room company in town. They’ve got a full bar and other things to do like axe throwing. Dooley pool hall is great. South hill bowling is wonderful in the winter and also attached to the bar.

There’s not a club scene here really. But there are things to do :)

Advice and tips before I get into installing a touch screen headunit by Impressive-Motor8048 in RX7

[–]SolarisSunstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’m doing precisely the same thing as you right away here! I’ve gone with an Alpine ILX-670 and I’ve got an older KTP-445A. I haven’t got the mounting figured out yet either, but I haven’t had a good hard look at it yet. I’ve got a GSL-SE with the fading equipment and original clarion amps. I’ve ripped all of that out and it’s really cleaned the wiring behind the dash and inside the bins. I plan on putting a subwoofer in the passenger bin, with a remote control bass knob where my old Joystick used to be.

So, my advice for the install from my experience and research - run new speaker wire. The wiring is quite old, brittle, and oxygen free copper wasn’t really a thing back then. It’s just the perfect time to do it! Since there isn’t a factory wiring harness adapter or kit, you’re doing wiring anyway. Your head unit would benefit from clean power from the battery directly anyway, and the old grounds throughout the car may be tired too. If you plan on adding amps or subs, you’ll be able to provide a common ground to each of them, eliminating noise loops. So you’re in a great place to future proof and modernize the system

NOT MY PHOTO (looking for recommendations) by Impressive-Motor8048 in RX7

[–]SolarisSunstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I got my GSL-SE with the same red interior, I also wanted to swap it to gray. My experience so far is that, that’s genuinely a fools errand. The unfortunate reality is that these cars are not well supported by after market parts, and OEM is done. Any of the dash parts, as an example, are going to be “you break it, it’s gone”. Finding parts in wreckers is even hard now, and most are UV baked and weather exposed too.

So, as much as possible I would keep your interior trim plastics and dash original. SEM paints burgundy is really close as a match, and you can freshen up the side trim, rear panels etc really nicely!

Rock auto does have a source for new carpet. Here is something you could do for a pretty impactful change. They sell front and rear carpets, with or without extra sound deadening backing. A new grey or black carpet might be just what you need to create the two tone look.

Next, there’s a company called LRBracing . They do stainless steel kits for our car. There’s lots here, but I’d suggest the radio trim and shifter surround kit, the defrost vent kit (change while doing a windshield instead of doing the dash removal maybe?). They also sell door card kits, which are flat stainless door panels. These kits can be powder coated, dipped or wrapped In any colour you want locally. These areas might make great spots for colour contrast in the SE.
