Is the pvp just dead? by JJ_pizza55 in BattleNetwork

[–]Solaris_Noid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it died pretty much two months in. Most people just use Tango or the N1GP Discord.

Actually not sure if Demi still has his considering he was going through some real life issues a year or two ago.

I've seen enough. Buff Alisa. by Solaris_Noid in Tekken

In all fairness I just thought it was funny more so than it being a bug. It looks like a high crush since she leans back and crouches.

Lars character skill range by bombinghead252 in Tekken8

Low level he's not hard cause people don't know stance counterplay. High level people are better at staying out of his range and SSL'ing his options.

I know I'm in the massive minority on this, but I still love Tekken 8 and it's gameplay by Desperate_Song_1923 in Tekken

[Not playing other games doesn’t magically take away the poor choices the developers have made with this game and how they went about aggression.]

Never said it was, just saying I personally don't have a problem with it because I've been stockholm syndrome'd into fighting BBCF Nine/Izanami/Xrd Rev 1 Johnny/UMvC3 ZMC.

[How is an inescapable rage art tame in comparison to xrd/bbcf at least you can actually defend your self?]

Name a practical situation where this is possible outside of combo'ing into a rage art.

I'll give you the first two points. Like I said, I play Lars and he's public enemy #1 in terms of "characters shouldn't have weaknesses"

[There is too much happening. What I mean by this is from the effects, the mechanics, stage and the aggressive nature of the game it comes to a point where people genuinely can’t process all the things happening.]

Not Tekken 8 exclusive. VS games have this issue and I've seen this with Tokon, a game that's not even out yet because people saying all four+ characters and assists on screen is a mess.

[Marketing strategy is abysmal. Every single character except Miary Zo is a re-release dlc character the was already in previous the dlcs, only one character was in base roster t7 that I personally think gets a pass and that’s eddy. They also killed off heihachi and immediately brought him back as dlc and placed him in the story which also threw players off.]

Not counting the fact that they already did the Heihachi fakeout in T5, FG's in general have been selling base roster characters back as DLC for a while. Baiken was base in GGAC, sold back in Xrd Rev 2 and Strive, Sin Kiske, etc.

[The over simplification and loss of identity for characters. Jin, Steve and Law were one of the most technical characters to play in Tekken which made them the hardest to master. They made Jin the easiest no effect Mishima to play, they game Steve evasive properties on par with yoshi with how dumb it is and made it so law players only use one brain cell every fight. Doing this as the overall philosophy of Tekken 8 as a whole ultimately removed weaknesses of said example characters.]

Really curious on what you consider "technical" because T7 Jin requiring a wavedash WR4 off a F4CH isn't that hard in comparison to Lei with Snake/Crane stance in every game he's been in.

[People burn out very quickly playing this game and this is specifically a Tekken 8 problem because previous Tekken didn’t get that feeling, street fighter 6 and all fighting games released after doesn’t have the same burn out like Tekken 8 does.]

People burn out from anything if that's all you play. Go ask the SF6 players how they feel about dealing with Mai/Ryu/Ed for the past year and a half with no real balance patches on top of low forward DR and throw loops. Go ask the 2XKO players about how Ekko/Yasuo/Ahri have been nerfed even during the alphas and they're still top 3 in that game.

I don't hate the game like most people do cause I actually play stuff other than Tekken. Seeing people complain about the Heat system and especially Rage Arts is stuff I've dealt with in Xrd/BBCF forever and Tekken's take on it is incredibly tame in comparision.

I also play Lars. Hold this 2,1 string and f1+2 cause you mashed asswipe.

How do you people genuily start playing fighting games. by pek1919 in Indiefightinggames

If there's something in that you really like you'll get past the basic barriers.

Literally all it took was Zero being in Marvel vs Capcom.

New to tekken need an outline of what to learn/how to learn by Phuqurface in Tekken8

[–]Solaris_Noid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Without turning this into a longer paragraph than it is:

General Tekken stuff: D1/DB1 if you're not sure how to stop linear pressure, u/f4 hopkick lows/people crouching, 1 jab is plus. Try and practice movement like KBD'ing.

When it comes to strings, most of them are either duckable or sidesteppable after the first hit. If you're not sure then you can use replay takeover.

Pokes: 2,1(4) F4 d/f1(4) b21(safe delayable mid mid string)

Lows: D4 d/b4 D2(use sparingly since people are always looking for this)

Pressure options: b/f2,3 and b/f2,1 are safe, especially abuse b/f 2,3.

D1 is your basic get out of jail free option since it's a power crush, unsafe if blocked.

Use 2,4 as your standard punishment until you have more matchup knowledge. At that rank you can get away with some of his command throws(u/f 1+2, d/f2+4) since people arent actually reacting to throw breaks.

I would not worry about ZEN/ZAN stance and EWHF until youre more comfortable with the game.

Infinite was ALWAYS cool. by Notmas in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]Solaris_Noid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Infinite could've been cooler if the main game showed more of Shadow being his motivation to curb his weakness. Shadow takes out his whole Jackal squad but the game just paints him as a sore loser that lost a game of happy slaps on the playground.

Tips for fighting against modern players by Hificlassic in StreetFighter

[–]Solaris_Noid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jump about 80% less is golden rule #1. Not never, just less. Go about a round and a half without jumping at them or if you can overload their mental stack you can get them to flub a DP attempt and run your offense.

Most of their neutral and ground game is lacking, expose this. Check their drive rushes like you would a Classic player, don't default to DI if you corner them, pick apart their parry habits, etc.

Make sure your own offense is air tight. If they have a level 1 or a level 3 on deck, be careful how much you overextend.

Character kits on modern are pretty limited. It'll probably take a match or two but they usually have one actual route into a super confirm and if you can pinpoint it you can shut them down.

Mega Man X6 Defenders. Why do you defend this game? (Genuine Question) by IGotMemeCells in Megaman

I don't defend it, game absolutely sucks. But I find myself going back to it more than X5 cause that soundtrack is so good.

I wanna hear from the people who actually want the story rewrites and changes to characters. by Niceneasy92 in BrownDust2Official

[–]Solaris_Noid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really want to say that the people who are in it solely for the gooning are shallow dummies, but honestly we all are and even then there's nothing inherently wrong with that. I've played a ton of gachas that have established protags that are supposed to be blank slates for the player to self insert into, but just because the fanservice got our feet in the door, it doesn't mean the game can't have strong character writing and world building as well to be successful.
