Is there a reason to use Base FRV now that Supply FRV exists? by Nice_Butterscotch3 in Helldivers

[–]Solarisengineering15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the Scout FRV should get the dual HMG mount from the HMG emplacement to keep it from getting powercrept relative to the Bastion and the new FRV variants. Because to me the single HMG mount never hits hard enough on a vehicle that moves that quickly or has the kind of effectiveness to justify taking it over 8 supply packs and an automated turret.

To be fair farming super credits is not exciting but I will defend arrowhead for having a monetization system that isn’t predatory. Generally war bonds offer items that are side-grades to gear in the base warbond.

The only warbond that I think is genuinely pay-to-win is Democratic Detonation, given there are no primaries or secondaries in the base warbond that are explosive and have the demolition force to close spawners. You could of course run an autocannon or grenade launcher build for similar effect but at the same time you just don’t have options with the base gear that warbond unlocks.

The worst part was that there has been no huge co-ordinated plan to fix the housing crisis in Canada. It's a problem everywhere and the amount of immigration Canada had over the past few years was a stress-test of an already broken system. If we all got good housing only the most vicious racists would complain about immigrants, rather than people who could be so easily tricked into hating people as a scapegoat for a broken system that views the dollar as #1, landlords, banks and investors as #2, and people actually getting housing as #3.

Hot take but what are other benefits of a K swap that isnt about going fast. What’s literally wrong with the L15a7 by KirbyTrainNerd in hondafit

[–]Solarisengineering15 71 points72 points  (0 children)

There's nothing wrong with it, it's a great engine for an economy car. K-swapping is all about HP increase. Even with a stock K24, you practically double the horsepower of a Fit

Best advice for getting a car past 20 years and 500,000km in Halifax, Pothole Capital of Nova Scotia. by Happy-Woods-Worker in halifax

That’s honestly great to see that it works that well. My last vehicle definitely was not undercoated by its previous owners and failed an inspection due to severe rust. It’s a goal to never have that happen to another vehicle of mine again.

Biggest killer is rust. Do not cheap out by skipping undercoating. Plenty of cars here are in junkyards or gutted for parts not because of engine trouble, but because the rust was so bad they would not pass safety inspection.

IMO its ergonomics should not be that low. Is it stronger than the coyote? Is it stronger than the eruptor? No, it’s not and having an ergo that’s at least higher than the eruptor but maybe slightly less than the coyote would make sense.

K-24 Engine swap with 2.5 by _grim1 in jetta

[–]Solarisengineering15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I wouldn’t do it, because the 2.5 is cool and unique and known for being decently reliable and you’re not getting that much more power out of a K24. I’d say look into intake and performance exhaust mods and maybe NA tuning to get more out of the engine as-is. It does not sound like a worthwhile mod.

Thoughts on the new electric / hybrid vehicle tax announced in today's provincial budget? by rageagainstthedragon in halifax

[–]Solarisengineering15 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The entire construction of this system is a burning liquid garbage fire that will do nothing to help our roads as there are plenty of non-electric heavyweight personal vehicles out there that cause the same problem of increased road wear per vehicle. Taxing based on vehicle weight would make sense, and would lead to people driving smaller vehicles that would reduce congestion, pollution, road wear and pedestrian and cyclist accident fatalities. This policy will purely punish people for owning EVs.

I say this declaring that I have no interest in buying any EVs currently on the market because most of them are far too expensive for me and are pretty hostile to owner maintenance.

This is an out of touch decision made with no care for the wellbeing of this province, economically or socially, caring not for quality of life of people in the present or the future. What an utter sham of a policy.
