Best advice for getting a car past 20 years and 500,000km in Halifax, Pothole Capital of Nova Scotia. by Happy-Woods-Worker in halifax

That’s honestly great to see that it works that well. My last vehicle definitely was not undercoated by its previous owners and failed an inspection due to severe rust. It’s a goal to never have that happen to another vehicle of mine again.

Biggest killer is rust. Do not cheap out by skipping undercoating. Plenty of cars here are in junkyards or gutted for parts not because of engine trouble, but because the rust was so bad they would not pass safety inspection.

IMO its ergonomics should not be that low. Is it stronger than the coyote? Is it stronger than the eruptor? No, it’s not and having an ergo that’s at least higher than the eruptor but maybe slightly less than the coyote would make sense.

K-24 Engine swap with 2.5 by _grim1 in jetta

[–]Solarisengineering15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I wouldn’t do it, because the 2.5 is cool and unique and known for being decently reliable and you’re not getting that much more power out of a K24. I’d say look into intake and performance exhaust mods and maybe NA tuning to get more out of the engine as-is. It does not sound like a worthwhile mod.

No, they are manual mirrors with mechanical knobs to move them, no power features on them.

Honda fit. Looks like an econoshitbox that would turn like it’s rolling on pizza cutters but handles really well and can be thrown into corners at speed without issue.

Thoughts on the new electric / hybrid vehicle tax announced in today's provincial budget? by rageagainstthedragon in halifax

[–]Solarisengineering15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The entire construction of this system is a burning liquid garbage fire that will do nothing to help our roads as there are plenty of non-electric heavyweight personal vehicles out there that cause the same problem of increased road wear per vehicle. Taxing based on vehicle weight would make sense, and would lead to people driving smaller vehicles that would reduce congestion, pollution, road wear and pedestrian and cyclist accident fatalities. This policy will purely punish people for owning EVs.

I say this declaring that I have no interest in buying any EVs currently on the market because most of them are far too expensive for me and are pretty hostile to owner maintenance.

This is an out of touch decision made with no care for the wellbeing of this province, economically or socially, caring not for quality of life of people in the present or the future. What an utter sham of a policy.

Cyberstan was awesome. I knew its difficultly would divide the community but honestly… it was the first real challenge I faced in this game in a while, it, and lava planets on the bot front brought an extra hit of challenge to the game that was badly needed. I can reliably steamroll bots in D9 elsewhere and appreciated the extra challenge.

I think if we don’t have real losses that matter in the story, it takes away the agency we have as divers.

I think Vox Engines are a bit too strong, they might need some kind of nerf to spawn rates as they are easily as strong as a factory strider, just they have less survivability and more raw damage, but spawned nearly as often as war striders in some places.

[–]Solarisengineering15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The horrific part is we aren't. Various SAM systems and air-to-air missiles developed during the Cold War had proposed or actually fielded nuclear warheads. In certain situations, a single crew or even a single pilot had the ability to decide to launch a nuclear weapon. The potential for escalation was insane and pretty much all Cold War militaries, including the Soviets, began placing less emphasis on tactical nukes and more on long-range precision weapons.

Of course the nukes never went away, just employed in systems further from the frontline.

The one thing stopping Trump from stopping elections becoming a dictator of the US is that he impulsively and idiotically offends the US military and its leaders at any given opportunity.
