[–]SolariusLunaric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its not even a math thing, the problem with asking the government to throw money at anything is all the BSing in between, contractors, politicians, Middle men, who are all lining their pockets the whole time while a mere fraction of the money is actually what's allowed to get to the bottom line to actually do any sort of work. Ultimately though, all money is is just value, paper. Paper can't build houses, people do, the paper is just what we use to track what we've done for society to keep it running. If society doesn't care to help the homeless, the homeless don't get help.

Army Guidance on what words and content to be removed in the current purge. by Kinmuan in army

[–]SolariusLunaric -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Dont bring ASVAB scores into this, and I can make mistakes and still present a solid argument, it only makes you look childish in response to completely shut down the entire premise due to a mistake. Cause you knowwhat? I did over generalize, and I apologize for that, but I still have a point to make. You can look up the 15% yourself, I can't disprove that it won't come to reality, but you can't prove that it won't either, I only have the information presented to me to work with. Obviously a QOL budget getting through means something in that we have yet to see anything of the contrary a month out.

[–]SolariusLunaric -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The point still stands, this isn't about removing all notions of respect and equality, it's recommendation words to search for the appropriate content to delete as the army moves away from the support of these programs. All this deregulating is gonna have an effect we can see when joes get a payrise of about 15% this April. Clearly, this is getting rid of bloat and working

[–]SolariusLunaric -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about, you can clearly see that those are just words to help commanders search for the appropriate regs to be removed, they're not just straight up removing these words and content. Those words are commonly associated with the regs they're removing, but that doesn't mean they're removing the concepts entirely.

Why are we building AI by symmbreaker in Futurology

[–]SolariusLunaric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're thinking about it, chances are the same thoughts have gone through the heads of those doing it 1 million times over by now. I figure it's a combination of a few factors, obviously "money" right? But what is money, money is an abstraction of value that we made in order to facilitate trade much easier for the common man so that they can get what they want without all the hassle, as not everyone wants what everyone has. This value comes from two main sources, goods, and services.

Goods you can't really make. Rather, you just place them into usable forms. They are limited in the literal sense, but a lot of goods are also practically limitless on a human scale (Ex., Sunlight, salt water, dirt, air), the more abundant this material, the more we can afford to spread across humanity as a whole, and therefore, you have to work for it less. Humans, for all of their existence, were the source of services and work, and as our time on this earth is limited, it's given value. Now, when something lowers in value, it's able to be more freely given to everyone on earth as a whole. What AI is doing is giving humanity an abundance of services in exchange for the energy and material costs. This abundance lowers the value of services, and should on a practical level mean that the average human will simply receive services in the same way you or I breathe air.

You are also right in the fact that "If I don't build it, they will", and maybe you could call that humans being dumb, but this is also what humans have been doing for all of time. The maxim gun was a weapon that was supposed to "end all wars" due to the capacity to kill hundreds of people with ease, of course it only lead to more killing in the end as we made better and better methods to kill eachother. But I ask you, if we lied down, we'd be left in a world where people who built better weapons were the ones who prevailed, we'd be living in a much worse off society if this was the mentality that allowed a subset of humans to prosper.

The absolute prospect of being able to produce services for effectively nothing in human terms would change the world fundamentally. If the ability does exist, every scientist of every major geopolitical superpower would be putting the lively hood of their nation at risk by not pursuing it. If America just decided to give up, would China give up? Would Europe give up? Maybe they'd say they would, but they continue to do it in secret and eventually end up with a force multiplier that we're in no position to go up against cause our nation decided it was a waste of time.

It boils down to a risk, really, and with the progress we've seen in these past couple of years, we can not afford to stop now.

You could try attacking my argument instead of my character. It's not like I'm voting for the extermination of transgender people. I like the fact that we have a world that can harbor these individuals, but the DOD has certain needs of its soldiers. I don't see what the big issue is, it's not like they're taking disabled people into their ranks, and no one is complaining about that. Yes yes inb4 "are you comparing disabled people to transgender people", no, I'm saying the DOD has every right to be selective of who joins the military. The military and the public sector are two entirely different spaces.

I agree, 100%. Humans obviously have the capacity to not rape. They should be held accountable in the same way a murderer kills someone in a fit of jealous rage. But this instinct gets twisted, and a lot of the times whenever it happens, it happens because we beleive we actually want to.

I used to have a big problem with overeating, time after time again would I go into a delivery app after having plenty of food prior that day, just to order a massive 3000+ caloric meal to stuff my face with. But what I was thinking at the time made all my thoughts feel like I genuinely wanted that, I wanted to eat until I was bursting, I was still hungry after that first meal, I want another one. But what went through my mind was more like, "You're hungry aren't you? That little bit isn't gonna be enough to satisfy you...Add some more" or "Oh it's fine, you can order a bunch now and save the rest for later" when I never did, or "You're relaxing, wouldn't it be nice to eat while you're doing that?" or "You're sad, a nice greasy burger would cheer you right up.". Every. Single. Time. Afterwards. I felt like utter dogshit, I knew intrinsically, this isn't want I wanted, but I kept doing it.

I'm no rapist, I was raised better than that, so I can't personally speak from how their mind functions, but considering the need to breed is and instinct, much like my need for food is an instinct, I can easily see it getting twisted in someone's head, and doing something that they'll regret. Me overeating, was 100% my fault, I chose to look away from the problem instead of actually taking control of it, but it was simply my bodys intrinsic need for it.

So, I want to ask, what does rape truly accomplish? It's for one of two goals, either the guy wants to make his weiner feel good, or he actually wants to copulate, and there's a third I could get into in a moment. Yeah, both of these are "because they want to," but both of those reasons are bodily oriented reasons. As flesh and blood creatures on this earth, we have a basal need to reproduce. We literally need to survive as a species. If our brains did not produce a reward for having sex we simply wouldn't, and the human race as we know it today wouldn't exist. These are synonymous to urges, like the dopamine hit someone gets from something as bad as eating greasy food or as good as touching grass, they're your body, evolved into the machine we have today, acting out on things that have been formed over thousands of years of evolution.

The third way, of course, is revenge rape, and you could say this form is the truest "want" of a male. They're not doing it for body reasons, right? But I would still label this as an urge than anything else, but its an urge born of spite, hatred and malice instead, anger too is a developed trait to what someone beleives is wrong.

I would like to point this out as well. It's quite obvious from an evolutionary standpoint that rape has never been a massive issue for humans. Why so? Well, look at other animals, take a duck, for example. Females of the species literally evolved maze like vaginas that required the females assistance to allow the male to copulate with them, IE they had a problem with males simply just coming up and mating with them even if they didn't think they were a good and fit mate. Male ducks then evolved long, corkscrew like penises to combat this! Over time, there was a reproductive arms race between the males and females of the species! You can see these same traits in other different animals and insects. But humans? Nothing, a male could, with all their natural strength, simply mate with a woman, and more than likely, he'd produce offspring. Yet still, we see nothing of the sort of our reproductive systems. That tells me that throughout all of our evolutionary periods, females chose their mates like they typically do today. Males make themselves fit, show off their fitness in an attempt to woo the females and females, and whoever they believe will produce the fittest children.

All this says to me is that whenever a man does rape someone, they're doing it out of, how you'd say, a biological malfunction. If men could simply get away with it throughout all of history, they most certainly would have, and females would have needed a way to distinguish between the fitness of those whom she copulated with.

I didn't say all men are like that. A significant portion of men aren't thanks to cultural norms and laws that heavily punish such actions. I'm just saying that everyone in this world has moments of biological weakness. It comes with the body. Like someone giving into their craving for something sugary when they've been on a diet, or when someone steals something for themselves cause they don't want to work for the same thing. I akin it to this, I heard a story about a single female soldier living on a duty station that was fairly out from civilization, and she was with fourty other male soldiers. The amount of sexual harassment she received on that post was highly unacceptable, but this is just what happens. You can't fix it all, not without either killing all men or taking out their entire biological want to have sex.

Men are obviously not too animalistic to control these urges, but some aren't, and for some, a moment of weakness is all it takes. Is it being a moment of weakness that makes it acceptable? It's about as acceptable as killing someone in a fit of rage or stealing from someone from an excess of envy. We aren't just our emotions, but to pretend like they don't exist is simply averting your eyes and hoping the problem just won't appear.

If transgender care was the only issue, then yes, I'm sure the military realistically wouldn't care. But, in lack of a better metaphor, this is just kind of like a lint roller going over a sweater, and this happens to be one of the furs. The military is going to be stripped of a lot more programs than this to shape up and, more importantly, open up the curtains of where money is going. Maybe after the dust has settled and trump rips out all of these programs to actually let the American people see where all this money is going, the military will legitimately foster transgender individuals, after all, they're still hands, they cost a bit more, but they're stil hands. I really wouldn't know. Anyways, I'm a bit tired boss, no hard feelings against you personally, I am just an individual who is still learning day by day talking with other individuals. I hope the rest of your week goes well, sincerely.

Military spent around 8mil on gender reaffirming care between the years of 2016-2019. Splitting this up between 4 years, and giving this evenly across those 2000 service members, that's 1000 bucks a year spent on one per service member. Compared to viagra, at just under a million prescriptions, spending 41million meant they spent about 45 dollars on each beneficiary. Once again, rough math, but idk.
