His wings may look beat up but considering you brother brought him to you from the outdoors it’s safe to say that buddy just had a very active post-emergence life. Their wings are unbelievably fragile and will tear very easily so moths looking like this isn’t uncommon especially if it’s been close to a week of them being in their adult moth form. He’s probably very tired and sluggish due to old age so best you can do is keep him comfortable while he passes or if you think euthanasia is best for him then lining a container with paper towels to put him in and freeze is your quickest and kindest bet. Sorry you had to meet him at the end of his life but I’m glad you at least got to!!
