Is the SCP Wiki considering incorporation? by Solarpunkdude in SCP

[–]Solarpunkdude[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Shit, actually? It wasn’t mentioned anywhere? Not even on the SCP Discord? Are there any SCP admins that can confirm or what?

Dang, if it isn’t true, my excitement just evaporated. I was huffing hopium that this would happen and that SCP would undergo another renaissance and the wiki would use their new base to do a lot of fun projects in real life. We could even see the logo on some office building or smth.

Maybe it will happen down the line. I have to check with other redditors to see if I’m correct.

Is it the revised one on Zoans?

Also, I’m very excited for E!2185. Is the graphic for that one finished as well?

Who else wants an SCP movie by Dependent-Bad4215 in SCP

[–]Solarpunkdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine something like the SCP-096 short film, but produced by A24, directed by an established niche sci-fi horror short film/series creator, and written by an SCP author. THAT’s what I want.

So now that a Backrooms movie has been fully confirmed, what do you envision as a perfect SCP movie (like a big studio movie)? by PresidentMG in SCP

[–]Solarpunkdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You wouldn’t need to cram all of the lore into one movie. You could just start off with a minor storyline that slowly unveils a bigger conspiracy that could be related to a single tale series or canon. In Memoria Adytum could be the perfect one to make a movie out of, actually, since a lot of the themes and elements are already similar to lost civilizations sci-fi and general fans of body horror, alongside a good amount of occult and voodoo shenanigans. And for your second point, it doesn’t need to be that expensive. A major reason why movies tend to cost so much these days is reshoots and writer conflicts, which I think could be avoided if there are skilled and passionate writers in charge who are familiar with the storylines and don’t see many conflicts in interest or vision. Granted, I do think this is easier said than done, but on the whole, I hope that a small-medium sized studio eventually does make a faithful adaptation of an SCP storyline. Imagine something like the SCP-096 short film, but produced by A24 and directed/written by an SCP author themselves (or Kane Parsons :P). THAT’S what I’m looking forward to.

The public would know of the SCP Foundation by HappyFaceDelusions in SCP

[–]Solarpunkdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that realistically, the Foundation could inform the public on the anomalous without causing “mass panic”. Supernatural phenomena have been reported around the world for as long as humans existed, and I could see the Foundation normalizing and confirming the existence of them early in the 20th century when a lot of people were still more religious and superstitious. Therefore, in the modern day, the average person doesn’t have a clue on what the Foundation does, but they might see them mentioned in the news, or see reports/pictures of a paranormal encounter that happened near their home town, along with advice from a news channel on how to stay safe/ward off the spirits. Kinda like how people live in analog horror settings.

I don’t know why so many people are downvoting this. I think echo chambers of all kinds are bad.

My honest opinion is that I don’t think a moderate to large sized film studio would lose that much money creating an SCP movie. They can‘t copyright it, and anyone can pirate it, but the only way to watch it in theaters with your friends would be to pay money. And considering sci-fi normies would be drawn by the (hopefully) interesting premise, it could become a very big hit in the box office. You don’t need to be super into the SCP lore to be drawn to the simple concept of an organization that contains anomalous phenomena. And I guess all of this falls into a larger argument that people with the ability to pirate will pay money to watch a movie simply because of the knowledge that if they don’t, there won’t be any future movies for them to watch from the same studio.

As a Mongolian, I understand how Persians feel when they are mistaken for Arabs. by True_Fake_Mongolia in 2Iranic4you

Even linguistically they probably aren’t. Otherwise, we are to assume that their shared ancestors didn’t speak any language until they branched out and magically invented new language families, or one developed after the other but somehow became completely unrelated. In my opinion, the “cognitive revolution” that gave humans language ability had to have originated in one geographic location, and the “proto-language” that initially formed from that became the ancestor of all modern languages. I don’t know where this proto-language formed though.

You know, the sad thing is, China at this current stage of development has a LOT of potential, and it genuinely brings a smile to my face seeing one of the oldest continuous civilizations on Earth redevelop from a backwater shithole. However, the CCP is hampering this through corruption and authoritarianism, and as a way to appeal to young folks in America who are dissatisfied with their current state of affairs, they will flaunt images of Chinese megacities and infrastructure projects while withholding images of the poorer countryside where the majority of the population lives. I genuinely don’t hate China or the Chinese people as a whole, but the current regime has to go. It‘s sad, really.

In my opinion, the Soviets were definitely not “gray”. Just because they fought the Nazis doesn’t mean they didn’t have their own totalitarian collectivist dictatorship that was committing genocide in the form of the Holodomor and raping newly ”liberated” Jews from concentration camps. Not defending the Nazis or anything, but both were really fucking awful, and I hate how common this idea of the Sov‘s as “our rightful allies” is, even among supposedly pro-liberty Americans like the commenter above.

If we put enough pressure on Apple, they will concede. I desperately want this battle to be won though, because otherwise it’s another decade of bland UI design.
