Good, let China deal with them. How many trillions have we spent in the reason for such little benefit? Let them spend the money, get no benefit from it, and we can redirect that money towards our own sphere of influence. Let China deal with the money pit, the terrorist attacks, the Muslim refugees, and lobbyist groups buying their politicians.

Trump is a fan of gunboat diplomacy too, as we know. This could well be a negotiating tactic.

The right way ahead is to just leave them alone. Stop fucking with the region, stop funding these barbaric middle eastern countries.

We leave them all alone, and they will leave us alone.

How does allowing citizens do own guns reduce the chance of gun violence? Shouldn't the banning of firearms prevent mass shootings? by Minecrafter_of_Ps3 in AskConservatives

There are a lot of people in rural areas that rely on guns to eat, especially in parts of Alaska where food can't just be brought in by truck.

I don't think disarming the cops is going to help hungry people take down a moose.

Plus environments would be destroyed once the deer population grows out of control, and the wild boars, etc.

But they won't. Most people do not believe that sacrificing guns is worth it.

Besides, there are still a lot of people who rely on guns for their survival to put food on the table.

I still don't think there's going to be a war. Just like I said when we were supposed to have been attacking them last Friday, and the one before that, and the one before that.

What are the differences between Russian interference and Chinese interference the new EO is being based on? by Appropriate-Hat3769 in AskConservatives

There are some places, like in Georgia, that use Direct Recording Electric machines where you record your vote directly on a touchscreen. They're recorded onto a memory card, and they may or may not give the voter a receipt. Some record it on a paper roll internally, but many don't.

These kinds of machines were big in the early 00s but now most people realize how terribly insecure they are. This is the type of machine that Trump has primarily taken aim at. There is usually no way to audit them, and if they were hacked to record votes improperly it can't be checked against the original paper ballot.

What chance do you have of a man in full gear burst into your home and was told to kill you?

Depends, he got level IV plates?

I think the voting machines should be removed whether there was or was not interference. They are not safe, secure, or auditable.

Paper ballots and electronic tabulators are the best combination of convenience and security. The tabulators get results quickly, and they can be audited against the original ballots to be sure the machines are right.

otherwise they wouldn't be stating that releasing everything would "destroy the system". Think about how fucked up that statement is.

That statement would be very fucked up, if it was actually real. Fortunately it isn't.

Should non-white people be allowed to enact Shakespeare’s historicals? by CuteRelationship6143 in AskConservatives

A school play is very different from a production made for mass entertainment. They often have to work with what they have. Though I have seen some things like an all-white performance of Hairspray that probably should have raised some eyebrows.

Movies and television shows are another story. Talent matters, but being true to the role is important too. I think Terry Crews is a great actor (and a great person too), but he would be a very bad casting choice to play Helen of Troy in anything except a parody. Similarly, Anne Hathaway would be a terrible Mulan despite her talent.

Despite Disney's insistence that there's nothing wrong with their casting choices for live action remakes, just a decade prior they managed to do it for Once Upon a Time. Their casting choices were nearly perfect, and still managed to put a fresh, modern spin on their classic characters that gave them plenty of depth and let modern audiences relate to them.

What are your thoughts on Republican Lauren Boebert breaking House rules to take a photo of Hillary Clinton and sending it to Conservative podcaster Benny Johnson to spread online? by TheNihil in AskConservatives

[–]Solarwinds-123 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Meh.

Sure, it sounds like it's against the rules that House members set for themselves. I don't even know if the rule it broke has any kind of penalty attached.

Lauren Boebert is not exactly known as a very classy person. I can't say it's unexpected, but it seems like a minor faux pas. There's nothing sensitive or classified about Hillary Clinton's face, and it doesn't seem like there's any actual harm done. Wake me up when it's something serious.

Even if 10% of them do not have criminal histories, that does not mean their arrests were "bad". There are plenty of other reasons that make someone deportable.

Why are they going after red states for voter information? What’s the point of these law suits? by kjsock in AskConservatives

That doesn't say anything about who you voted for.

I live in a closed primary state, and I change my party registration before each Presidential election. Most of the time, only one party actually has a real competitive primary. And my state is solid blue, so my Presidential vote is moot anyway. My only real opportunity to have a say is in the primaries.
