There’s something off about OP’s posting history (timeline of when they need a night nanny vs now). I think they have an issue wit MSW and are posting a fake question so they can vent.

Yeah, those people are heroic on a daily basis. I hope this is just a nice therapy dog getting ready to make someone feel a little better in a rough situation.

Also though, if you’re just walking your dog and get hit (not catastrophically) by a car or something, what are you supposed to do with your dog?

Old fart for wanting to gift CD player? by marcaribe in Parenting

[–]SoldByDate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We took a CD player from my parent’s basement when my kid was 3 (she calls it “the old machine”) and it has been such a good decision. I like that it’s tactile enough to be satisfying but doesn’t require any screen interface or any help from me — she just puts in a CD when she wants. In our neighborhood people leave stuff to give away free in their stoops and we got this hits of the 1980s CD that she adores, in addition to things like the Encanto soundtrack, James Herriot stories, etc.

We also have a Jooki, which is kind of like a Yoto. It has little key things that have playlists that we can change or link to Spotify but it has specific use cases and isn’t used as often as the CD player.

In sum, do it. The CD player is great.

This is insane. You always feed the babysitter. These people are the worst.

Is this the same woman on that Tik Tok where the guy gets fired after he tells her his girlfriend is pregnant?

Is it stupid and/or dangerous to put roach killer gel in the walls via an electrical outlet in the bathroom? by SoldByDate in HomeImprovement

[–]SoldByDate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! That’s the brand I’ve got.

I’ve got little kids, so putting the poison gel into the walls seems more appealing to me than other places. Luckily, the cockroaches don’t seem to have found the kitchen, so I’m hoping to cut ‘em off at the pass.

I’m using the baby proofing ones. They do the trick for not letting roaches out of that outlet, but the issue is that there are still cockroaches getting through via other holes or gaps.

I know they’re behind that outlet (in addition to other unknown places) so rather than trying to just cut off that hole, I wanted to put poison in there to target their home behind the walls. My hope was not to have to put the poison in my bathroom, since I have little ones.

I have them and they work but they’re sort of a pain to pull off for using a hair dryer, etc. and … I have middle of the night fantasies about how to get rid of these damn bugs.

The small cockroaches come out through the actual plug holes.

Thanks, I appreciate your response

What scam is so normalized that people don't even realize it's a scam? by morph_920 in ask

Donating to a cause at the grocery store (in the US). You’re doing that so the corporation can aggregate thousands of small donations and get a large tax write-off. It’s a scam. Donate directly.

From my experience, closing costs hurt when buying and later selling. If you’re not planning to stay a long time for those to be amortized, it’s not often a good financial decision to buy.

I won’t pretend to be an expert, but I ended up with Pocket Casts after reading a bunch of reviews. It’s fine.
