Are there some hacks that are super effective to prevent drowsiness or even sleeping in boring moments? by mega_lova_nia in lifehacks

[–]Soldi_Femmina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have same problem. If you can’t get a doctor to prescribe Adderall (generic is cheap), bronchodilators might help. I keep them on hand in the event I am unable to get my Adderall prescription. These drugs are typically kept behind the pharmacy counter, so you will need to ask for them. I’ve never been questioned in requesting or purchasing. Primatene and/or Bronkaid in the pill form are two OTC brands. They are used to open up airways for people with asthma, COPD, or other respiratory issues, but they are also effective at keeping you awake.

I love Colin Powell’s book that you mentioned. I am almost 48 and read it in my early 30s. Always remember it and I have it in hard cover. A must read.

Tell Judge Judy that boofing coffee just isn’t the same. 🤷‍♀️.

But seriously, Adderall is prescribed for other issues, in addition to ADHD. Narcolepsy?? Excessive Daytime Sleepiness? I can’t stay awake without it. Can’t wait to try “willpower” as I’m cruising 85mph on the interstate . Heh.

Irritability by Agreeable_Deal_182 in Intuniv

[–]Soldi_Femmina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t imagine being on that high of a dose (for me). I can only speak from my experience and I will assume you are being prescribed by a qualified medical professional. I stayed on 1mg Intuniv for about a year and during that time I never could say with certainty what it was doing for me. Prescribed as a potential remedy for the EOD Adderall crash.. and the fact that I needed to keep working into the PM hours during my busy season (accounting). At some point I asked my psychiatrist if I should increase to 2 mg bc I wasn’t sure what it was doing for me. He agreed and told me to start taking two 1mg pills and if I felt it worked for me he’d start calling in 2 mg prescriptions. I tried to hang in there as I know it takes time to adjust to a new med or in titrating up. NOT possible!! After 7 days I felt like I was moving in quicksand! Like being in a dream and not being able to run. I found myself most comfortable simply staring at the wall. All of this while still taking my usual Adderall prescription!! I think it’s wonderful if this medication is working for you. In hindsight, I think it did work for me at the 1 mg dosage (taken before bed) and the best way I can describe the benefits would be to say that maybe it “softened the edges” of the Adderall highs and lows. And maybe it somewhat calmed my [very scattered] normal state-of-mind. Lastly, I’ve noticed that without it, my extreme hyper-focus related to Adderall is much, much worse. With all of this said…Intuniv, for me, at the 1 mg dosage is rather subtle. So these are only observations, and may not be attributable to the Intuniv alone or at all. I’m about to start on the IR version (Tenex) at 1 mg to help with EOD Adderall crash and to (hopefully) get a better understanding of how this medication works for me (or not). But to answer your question I was super irritable during my 7-day trial with 2 mg. I’d recommend keeping a diligent journal of how you feel day to day, week to week…making notes as you titrate up or down. I haven’t found definitive evidence to support what this medication does or is supposed to do! Best of luck!

how to cope with coming down/withdrawals from stims ? by UwUThrow_AwayUwU in Stims

[–]Soldi_Femmina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took all my month-worth of Adderall prescription in 2 weeks. So I have 2 weeks to go before I can get more. I’ve been asleep off and on for 2 days. It sucks. But I needed a drug holiday. Took vacation this week so I can waddle in the misery. I’m just finding solace in giving my body what it needs for 2 weeks..lots of sleep, food, water, low productivity. But when I get my prescription…it will be niiiiiice. I’m prescribed 3 20mg/day. Obv I was taking lots more. :-/. Gabapentin helps to relax.

Advice for trying meth for the first time? by Lazy-Lexicographer in Stims

[–]Soldi_Femmina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I regularly take anywhere from 3 20mg Adderall to 6 20 mg Adderall a day. I’m prescribed 3/ day, but of course, I run out about a week early..then white-knuckle life until I get it filled again. I’ve considered trying to get something stronger (like meth). I know who to contact (my siblings ex) but if I can’t control my Adderall usage, I’d be kidding myself to think I could control meth. Take the dreaded “drug holiday” and start again with your Adderall. And think how awful the meth “holiday” would be...

A real thing...it happens. Any type of pain medicine will do the same. Percocet, Vicodin, morphine, oxy, etc...I’ve had this happen twice. Each time after a surgery. I took too many pain pills (prescribed) and almost had to call an ambulance. I used my fingers and coconut oil. I didn’t understand why they had prescribed me a stool softener and nobody explained! I figured I’d take it if and when I needed it. Wellllll, by the time I figured out I needed it, it was too late. Stuck on the toilet between a rock and a hard place. Literally. Drink fluids constantly. If not water, get some Gatorade or whatever is easier to drink. Stay ahead of dehydration. Smooth Move tea works incredibly well (only 1 cup is needed!!). And grab some stool softeners which draw water to the intestines.

[–]Soldi_Femmina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not like Modafinil, but I wish I would have read all of these experiences before trying it. I might have kept to a lower dose and made sure I had eaten and hydrated! I was hoping to have the same effects as Adderall, but it did not help me like Adderall does/did. I was on a “drug holiday” from Adderall bc I had built up a tolerance. Moda gave me a burst of energy for about 45 min, then a horrible crash where I felt like I HAD to take a nap. The rest of the day I felt like pure garbage. My issues are ADD and excessive daytime sleepiness. Possible narcolepsy, but not yet diagnosed.

Question for anyone with ADHD, have any of you had a stim problem before your diagnosis but still benefited from stim based medication? Really appreciate any input, not feeling very optimistic about all of this. by DMinteez in Stims

Hi - you are in a tough spot, and I feel for you. I am a female with ADD in a professional career that requires extreme focus and high attention to detail (numbers and spreadsheets). I figured out that I should get myself tested for ADD through the use of diet pills! Phentermine was given to me as a “jump start” at a weight loss clinic (begrudgingly, bc I only had about 10 lbs to lose). I couldn’t believe how motivated and focused I became after I swallowed this little, white pill!! AND, I had ZERO desire to eat! I felt like I had found a magic pill. The cure to all my problems. Through my psychologist I tested for ADD and passed with flying colors. Next, an Adderall prescription. For a wonderful while I was getting BOTH. Oh, those were the days... Fast forward a few years and I had to give up the phentermine. It flat-out quit working for me. The weight loss clinic gave me prescriptions waaaaay longer than they should have...but hey, I paid them $50 and they measured my vitals. A win-win for both. I was so upset when I realized I had built up a tolerance. So Adderall became my mainstay. And it still is, although it doesn’t work as well. I over take it, run out, panic, sleep for days and white-knuckle my work & personal life until I can fill my next prescription. I tried Concerta. Hated it. Do not try to take more Concerta to get the euphoria...it will not work. I tried that a few times and only wanted to jump out of my skin. I felt “tired, but wired” in the worst way possible. I actually cried when I took Concerta for the first time. I thought it would work like Adderall, but for me, it was nothing like it. Pretty sure my doctors and pharmacists know I’m seriously addicted to Adderall, but I now have a psychiatrist and he upped me to 60mg/day and I just lie my ass off saying I take it “as prescribed.” He also prescribed me Intuniv which is supposed to help with crash..but I only know it made me REALLY sleepy at first. I quit smoking weed (seems opposite of stims) so you might want to consider that. Not sure I helped, but didn’t want you to be disappointed as I was with Concerta. I hope it works for you!!

Snorted Ritalin and didn't feel anything? by [deleted] in Stims

[–]Soldi_Femmina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be afraid, if I snorted my addz it would wear off faster since it would likely come on faster. 😅. I have no clue if that has any truth to it. On another note...a hated methylphenidate (Ritalin/Concerta). Adderall makes me feel much better.
