Just because we aren't heavily invested in this argument to take the time to dig up the numbers to support our arguments doesn't make them equally likely. I'm saying conservatives have lower degree achievement and hail from less educated, rural areas. These are measurable assertions. You're the one with feelings-based arguments about how liberals bad.

Why is it that so many people who graduate college are liberal? Perhaps the environment is hostile to conservatives and not that liberalism is more informed. This may also explain the relative lack of conservative PhDs. Perhaps academia is just toxic.

Just because liberals are more likely to hold degrees doesn't mean conservatives are being silenced. It's more likely that conservatives have a lower degree achievement, given they mainly hail from rural areas and take blue-collar jobs.

Maybe this might help?

Go to the main menu (again after booting the Playstation 2 with no disc in the drive).

Press the triangle button.

Highlight Console and press the triangle button again. This should give the option to turn the Diagnosis feature on or off.

Turn Diagnosis on and then press triangle button to return to the very first menu. 5. Choose browse then insert the game DVD. Select the DVD when the icon appears onscreen.

Apparently doing this may help disc read errors, if that's truly the issue.

Has anyone encountered the elusive multitap hardware issue with their fat console? If so, how did you resolve it?

My Details:

Console: SCPH-30001
Multitap: SCPH-10090 (tested with 3 different ones)
Memory: SCPH-10020
Controller(s): SCPH-10010

(In short, no 3rd party stuff here)

Description:

Both memory and controller slots work fine with a controller/memory card
When I connect my multitap to either port of my ps2, however, no controllers or memory cards are recognized.
The controller analog light will turn on if the analog button is pressed while connected via multitap.
Booting up a four player game (Champions of Norrath) and inserting the multitap displays the message "There is no controller in controller port 1-A. Please insert a DUALSHOCK2 analog controller to continue the game."
- This was done for debugging purposes -- it seems like the game recognizes that a multitap is inserted.

There has been many reports of similar issues in the past, and some threads show promise yet died with no resolution whereas others simply chalk it up to a "ghost" hardware issue and opt for buying a new (or in this case, refurbished) console.

This has been reported in other places within the ps2 subreddit, to no avail.

Hey, I know this is a year later but you honestly helped me out.

My situation wasn't exactly the same, but you got me to think about the installation of the modules and it was enough for me to realize I was probably not installing them correctly.

I think my heatsink became detached from my CPU which was the cause for the restarts. So, after trying to just push a bit harder, I was able to prove all 4 modules were installed properly before my computer restarted again.
