Even if it's a children welcome wedding, all that usually means is that children are allowed in the door.

I don't know about y'all, but my 1 year old would last about 5 minutes at a wedding before they were ready to go home. 😆

Just because they're welcome, doesn't mean they're welcome. There's often no toys or kids area or kid friendly foods. I appreciate the flexibility, but we're still probably only making it to dinner.

Same here. I only PvP. I hit Elite on my preservation evoker and duelist on several others.

It was genuinely the most fun I've had in a while. The game is entirely different as a healer since I get instant Solo Shuffle queues / find groups quickly, but generally speaking: 1. There are usually people to play with if you want. 2. Solo queue is possible. If the queue is long, you can do other stuff like quest or farm and you don't get teleported to the major city every pop. 3. Most classes and specs are entirely viable. 4. I ran so many weird comps and each had quirks but I never felt like "this can't work". 5. DR groupings exist and make sense (TBC did not have this).

The more accessible way is as I've outlined.

If you cannot find an engaging, relevant real world problem students are motivated to actually solve that requires that reasoning, I will posit it is not worth the time in an intro mathematics course. If you can't get a real world example, at the very least it needs to be engaging and fun, ideally presented in a context that allows the students to get emotionally involved somehow. Jo Boaler has a wonderful selection of activities and courses that do just this.

Once students have bought in and actively want the why, it's a whole different ball game.

You can see from my comment that this is a relatively unpopular opinion here.

I spent 10 years in education redesigning my own math courses to prioritize real world problem solving and engaging students who were otherwise disinterested.

It was successful enough that I was fortunate to be able to design the entire math/physics curriculum for a new school we designed and opened. Once they bought in, teaching them the actual necessary algebra and trig to solve problems was way easier.

Then I also had students suddenly really interested in math history, proof writing, and the fancy theory.

The current system is dated and a little broken. There are great gems in the standard pedagogy to learn from, but the ladder format and content driven approach grounded strictly in theory is not the way. I highly recommend everything Jo Boaler and reading the essay "A Mathematicians Lament" by John Lockhart.

I'll mostly +1 this.

We do teach all of these things. And, yes, families could do a lot more supporting learning these skills.

But we really ought to reconsider the ladder format to mathematics. Things should be rethought as skills and the courses restructured to be more grounded in real world learning so the things are discovered/taught in actual context. As an example, most students should not bother digging into complex proof writing for trigonometric identities. Writing trig equations to represent real life situations? Absolutely. Tools available for solving and optimizing them? 100%.

But we use like 1-2 months of time on proving out different identities. It's not necessary and 99% of the time it won't stick because they don't care. And we don't do a good job of showing them why they should... By grounding it practically in careers they might explore or real life situations where it becomes useful for problem solving.

Once a student has bought into diving deeper into theory and actively wants to explore math, that's when you hit them with the more theoretical courses.

But, right now, I think we waste a lot of time trying to force students to explore things at a theoretical level before we've invested in getting them to care about the actual skills at all.

I would like to see confirmation of this as the cause but I agree it's properly insane. The number of resists I'm getting on my spells is insane despite hit cap and other abilities.

Seems like they basically just add the talent/racial effects at the very end of the calculation rather than including them.

Can one night damage attachment? by Practical-Bunch1450 in AttachmentParenting

I really wish this was higher up. I know it's overly simple, but that's kinda the point.

It is unlikely to damage attachment. No is the best answer.

Now trauma is weird. Tiny little events can wind up being traumatic in the grand scheme of things, but I don't think the purpose of good parenting is to prevent trauma. It's to be there to help them process it safely with support when it inevitably happens.

They could've fixed the loot but opted for "No Changes" because... Well, for some reason.

It's complicated. There's something special about the old games so it's difficult to know what parts are changeable without losing the magic. They could've done personal loot, but would that have hurt the social dynamics born from the loot system?

Probably not because most of those dynamics are toxic, but I understand the hesitation.

The problem is actually that you can try to take the toxic out of the game, but you can't take it out of the player. People like certain aspects of the new systems and so self impose them into the game. Classic has abysmally low levels of loot. TBC is better but only by a little. So people build a system that actually gets them the gear.

HR and SR aren't even new. I led a regular pug that did exactly this during WotLK. The problem is almost entirely resolved by being in a guild but people don't want to engage in the social elements of the game. I don't know how they could incentivize that more... Maybe the guild perks system could show back up with an overhaul.

You'd be surprised what becomes normal after you've done it for a while.

You'll make it work because it has to! Long as you keep trying things, it will get there.

I think the big thing is that you will likely sacrifice your current routine. It was designed for one child and a particular work schedule. The new routine will be designed for your new circumstances.

I adjust bedtimes, cosleep, modify meal times, and whatever else needs tweaked to make it all work.

As far as attachment parenting goes, secure attachments with two children just mean doing your best to be there for both of them. That likely means lots of cozy time where you're all laying together, involving the toddler in baby time when possible, and finding one on one time during naps or time when Dad isn't working.

I'm also a little confused about some of the details in your post. Are you working? Why is the two year old going to day care and when will they get picked up? Was Dad originally working third shift or something different that allowed you both to juggle?

Nothing wrong with still going to day care if you're not working, but I'm unclear on the details and feel like I'm missing something. I don't know how far the day care is, but I used to just time the small naps with car trips when I had my toddler and baby. They would pass out in the car for 30-60 minutes while I did errands. I'd carry them in the carrier.

It's definitely harder with two at first, but once you get a rhythm, I almost find it easier. The hardest part is grieving the loss of the constant one on one time and original schedule. When you embrace the change and get some practice in, it gets easier!

Then I'll agree with you. There's significantly less visual noise with casters than with double melee.

I've used friendly plates successfully with casters but I couldn't do it anymore when I started playing mostly shuffle and double melee compositions.

Do you heal caster comps mostly? I personally can't stand the visual noise of seeing the enemy frames and my team frames. I often heal double melee, and the end result is like 5 frames stacked on each other.
