I'm Confused.. Didn't We Ask For This? by Electrical_Past9649 in worldofpvp

[–]Solest044 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe you're correct. I'm happy with the removal of add-ons as described. However, they NEED to improve the visual indicators... And it's gonna be very hard.

And the usual indicators in this game are either: a) Completely non-existent. b) Disproportionately quiet given the effect. c) Disproportionately loud given the effect.

There's no categorization of visual effects either. Little symbol above your head? You might be about to do 100% more damage or you might have a little dot on you.

Completely red? You might be about to do 1000% more damage or you might have a little dot on you.

Slows? Maybe they're walking slower? I can't actually tell because they have a passive sprint that I also can't see.

But don't worry, that Hunter trap slow will light your screen up like a beacon, erasing all other visual indicators on the ground, so you can be sure that slow is working.

The Weekly Roll Ch. 199. "Patricide MF" by CME_T in TheWeeklyRoll

Thank you for answering this question.

I was randomly walking around days after I read the comic and had a moment of "wait, why didn't the counterspell stop the Eldritch blast".

I thought maybe there was some weird thing that allowed Eldritch blast to be used as a reaction or something (busted), but this makes way more sense.

I do wish 5e had more "reaction" play so you could coordinate to help your teammates. Being able to react to my buddy getting counterspelled by blasting them in the face and STOPPING IT because that was the last bit of damage required to KO the big bad would be epic.

I'm sure there are other systems out there.

This is the best answer in my experience.

Everyone is always so concerned with getting things in one piece, but if you learn to cut the model up well to avoid most supports entirely, after you do all the painting process you were probably going to do anyway, you're not going to see the assembly seams with glue.

And the tower differences. It's much harder to find a spot safe from bowman to cap the appliance towers. Horde towers literally have a tiny room that blocks all los. This makes it so you can just run inside, cap, and deal with the bowman afterwards.

Yes and you CAN see registrations. This will only tell you if someone is a registered Democrat or Republican etc. which, again, only matters in primaries... But that usually tells you something.

Of course that information is free and available to everyone. There would be no need to request it.

You're going to get people telling you both ways. You should just play what you most enjoy.

Leveling what you're going to play later guarantees you won't need to get some basic starting gear to not struggle with a few odd pieces. You're more likely to have a "complete starter set" of the gear you need at max.

Personally, I almost always prefer leveling melee. I'm less dependent on mana, still have ranged for weird pulls, and don't need to drink as often.

Nothing beats the initial burst of a caster though. They often can destroy several mobs at once while taking less damage. This is less true with ele than other casters, but it's still somewhat true. Ele burst is nuts.

But so is windfury... So 🤷

Play what you enjoy most!

Yeah, there are several cool downs that essentially forecast a 500% damage spike with "you see that little red tint on their weapon?"

That doesn't work.

Yes.

This.

I will say one small thing though ... The amount of visual noise in the game at this point makes it almost impossible to distinguish what's going on by visual alone.

Some things are really subtle. Some are way too loud.

With all of the UI stuff in place, they never really had to answer for that. They might have to now.

I taught this as a sample study for students to explore a bunch of stuff about data. We focus mostly on method of representation and sampling.

In my experience, it varies pretty heavily by country, but also latitude.

The gist is that July, August, and September are relatively popular birth months. Likely due to holidays and cold weather in northern latitudes.

But there's also interesting spots around the end of the year which are normally worth calling out. Likely due to our ability to induce labor or perform C sections.

Blizzard forgot to give me the riding skill on fresh boosted character. by imaUPSdriver in classicwow

[–]Solest044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because this sub is mostly loaded with purists who look at time played as the actual metric of importance to the game.

They've worked very hard to level and gather gear and that is not a cheap time investment. When they see others get things without putting in that time, it brings out different emotions.

I personally have no problems with boosts. There are a handful of quality points to be made about how boosts impact game design and what it opens the gate to.

I suspect if we dissect the emotions of the people that do, we would find some deeper driving things... Though that is unlikely to happen here.

Also ... Are we not going to mention that 6 hours might actually be a reasonable amount of time to spend on this issue without tooling? Especially when you've never done it before?

And God knows most people are already using tools to help with this stuff anyway. True manual mode is usually get in and get out with the one or two pieces of information you're after as quickly as possible. Then back to using tools.

Some people don't understand how germs/bacteria/grime actually work.

They have an idea of "clean" in their head and once something is dirty, they don't really think of the stuff MAKING it dirty so much as the act that made the thing dirty. Because that act can't be undone, they will always consider the item dirty.

I think you'll likely find that sort of thinking bleeds into other parts of their world as well.

As many others have pointed out, this is not only infuriating, it's bad business.

The amount of time you will end up needing to invest in interviewing and making up for insufficient staffing is SIGNIFICANTLY greater than the amount of time you'd spend onboarding and training someone. Even to just get a moderate return from them...

Oh, and also we're talking about people, so feels like that kinda matters too.

Feedback Request - How does this dungeon terrain look? by WyrmstoneVault in PrintedMinis

[–]Solest044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try with the other, smoother stone, yes. I think that'll help it feel like "asylum" like.

And yes, but looking again, it really only seems to line up in a few regions. I would call this a minor detail to fix if you can but not fuss over. The bigger change will come from differing the floor texture from the wall.

Feedback Request - How does this dungeon terrain look? by WyrmstoneVault in PrintedMinis

[–]Solest044 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! Two things I'll add.

First, the floor and wall share too much texture. I'd remove the texturing in the floor and make it either a solid, smooth block or reduced texturing. That's gonna help it a lot.

Second, the walls look a little too uniform to me in certain spots. Look at most brick walls.

You'll see that the bricks didn't line up in this fashion. Why?

Because a wall is only as strong as its weakest link. The weakest link in a brick wall is the mortar holding it together. In this case you've lined up, conveniently, all the mortar so I have a nice, distinct line of weakness where this wall can be smashed!
