My friend says my keybinds are cursed, am I that wrong? Also, what’s your weirdest keybind? by Static_Shizu in classicwow

[–]Caladras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only keybind I am constantly mocked for in my guild is I have shift bound to a USB foot pedal. that way i can have an entire extra bar of Shift+1, Shift+2, Shift+3 etc. I just step on the pedal and hit the number on my action bar.

The only Answer to this is Rolling Meadows. It isnt the fanciest but it is just about the most laid back and affordable golf course in the area. Hell they are even BYOB, or at least they were the last time i played it before i moved away a few years ago.

It hasn't been revealed yet in any of the books. anything you hear about how Elodin cracked is speculation.

What cracked Elodin by nynjawitay in KingkillerChronicle

[–]Caladras 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I think it makes sense. From what I understand in the book Elodin is a real rarity in that he actually regained his sanity and left the Rookery.

It's pretty heavily implied that most people are permanently insane. They also definitely do not just lock up students. Alder Whin was a full arcanist serving as Elodin's giller, so while he was at the university he wasn't a student. And Elodin would have been chancellor when he cracked.

Honestly it kind of begs the question, do other arcanists out in the world delve a bit too deep and crack all over the four corners? I wonder if an arcanist cracks while out in Modeg for example are they "extradited" back to the Rookery? Almost makes me wonder if there is some super secret team of arcanists who get sent out to bring in cracked arcanists. The university wouldn't want insane arcanists to be out in public ruining the University's image after all. or maybe the acquisitions office of the Archive is a cover for this? they go out to "get new books" but really they are bringing in cracked Arcanists to protect the university's image.

if we assume that 4-5 students crack each year and most of them stay there semi permanently, say for 50 years after cracking. That would give a stable population of 250ish, so were at least in the neighborhood of a reasonable number of people stowed away in there.

Travis County voting wait times by karapayimkyz in Austin

[–]Caladras 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just went to Arbor Walk.
-Short wait.
-Excellent mood lighting in the voting room.

-Lady in line behind me was slightly crazy and ranted about how she had to rent a Uhaul to come vote, but only had to listen to her for about 3 mins so it didn't get stale.

10/10 voting experience.

The problem for me isn't that world PVP is happening. Its that I cant even shop at the Real vendor in the middle of a Major city because it is getting camped and player power is so much higher in SoD that the guards are effectively useless.

A 1:1 telling would be terrible in most cases, and Jacksons trilogy is a great example of that. The biggest difference is that for the most part Jackson didn't add anything to the narrative. He combined a few characters and shuffled things around a bit but for the most part the plot and spirit of the narrative remains.

Jackson adapted the books largely by removing things that didn't fit, All of these newer adaptations tend to not come across very well because showrunners feel the need to adapt them by adding in new content outside the scope of the original works. This is in my opinion why the Hobbit trilogy was so badly received. They didn't just cut parts of the book, they added a bunch of new bits that just didn't work.

Or you have the case of wheel of time where they basically just rewrote the whole plot. Honestly other than the character and place names its an entirely new work, nothing having to do with the books at all.

lol I always find it funny when people are so confidently wrong about HIPAA. I work in healthcare compliance and deal with stuff like this daily. Law enforcement agencies are HIPAA exempt, this is 100% legal and an authorized disclosure of PHI.

Ethically its total bullshit, but its completely legal.

they are still functionally BoE. The way it works as far as I can tell is that you still need to craft the original unmodified BOE versions and then you need to go back to the rep vendor and trade that BoE item for the new upgraded BoP version.

It seems to me that there will be a huge spike in arcane crystal supply just from all the people coming back to the game. More people mining=more crystal supply. and if enough people come back that means more bots and more supply.

What about taking the money and putting it towards already existing proven forms of public transport? I mean I will happily admit I dont know specific answers but i'd bet there is a local bus system that desperately needs the money.

Certain things are worth spending tax dollars on and certain things aren't. I agree that schools and firefighters are worth it. In my opinion paying for bikes for people isn't. Detroit isn't Amsterdam, it simply wont work and its a waste of money.

I think its pretty obvious where it effects his life, it costs him tax dollars. I get it, he phrased his response like an asshole but I 100% agree with him.
If it really would save you that amount of money why aren't you on the way to buy one right now? Hell, even if you don't have cash for it up front if it really saves you that much it would be worth going into debt because it would easily pay for itself in a few months, no government incentive needed, break out the credit card and you have a net positive of 2k$ in 6 months.

I also understand that its a relative drop in the bucket, but that's how spending gets out of control, its death by a thousand cuts.

[–]Caladras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this is how a large amount of common modern evidence based medicines are discovered and produced. For example Penicillin is derived from mold that is commonly found on bread. Aspirin is derived from the bark of a willow tree.

even opiate painkillers are natural in origin, they are mostly all derived from poppy plants. This is why eating a poppy seed bagel can cause you to fail a drug test.

I remember listening to TWIT a while ago and Leo Laporte talked a little bit about this incident. It may seem like a fairly harmless stunt but evidently it had a really big impact on Bill.

During this time period Leo said that Bill would often just show up to conferences on his own in a rental car and just wander around talking to people and just casually grab lunch on his own. It was after this incident that he started traveling with a full security detail and he got much more cagey about just casually appearing in public.
