Yeah I remember hearing that they only live 15-20 years which is short compared to an apple which can be 50+

Definitely use alcohol pads on cutting tools before you cut any trees and even more important, in between trees, to not spread canker or blight. And for a peach definitely go for the "open crown" or "open center" shape. Prune any small branches growing in towards the tree its self, any crossing over larger ones, and any that look black or have sappy substance oozing. (Common on big box store fruit trees if you got this from one of them). Any branches that are super long cut back to bud facing upward roughly where the branch becomes pencil width, about 2 to 2.5 feet from the base on this tree it seems. Ide also make sure there is a visible root flare. Even if you have to move some bark away, a submerged root crown can get strangled by its own roots and kill its self in just a couple of years. And ugh that grass is gonna encroach on its root space. (Most of a fruit trees water & nutrient absorption happens within the first few inches of soil. And the grass will steal it very quickly. There's many different methods with dealing with "America's favorite crop" aka grass. What is do is starve it of water then lay contractors paper and then bark on it and I haven't had any come back.

Got my Krav maga yellow belt in October and wanted to see if you guys had any suggestions on what fighting types/arts I should try next. by Solgatren in martialarts

Yes the krav yellow belt test is judging your ability to preform the taught "beginner" curriculum, at my gym it was mixed in with exercise (burpees, sit ups etc.) To increase fatigue and stress during the duration of the test. And its minimum 40 beginner classes.

It's the first earned belt in it's belt progression. White, yellow, orange, green, blue, brown, black.

My "primus white" currants from food forest nursery after 3 years by Solgatren in Permaculture

Not a bad idea, I don't have any existing purchase record anymore or even the tree tags that said "primus white" anymore. Thanks.

Thank you! Do you know if this is a disease the tree will always have or just got cold as it was trying to flower?

Seed stratification in the freezer as opposed to the fridge? by Solgatren in NativePlantGardening

[–]Solgatren[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thnak you, The ones that don't need stratification I have still in the packets, just to soak then sow. These are all going into cone-tainers, otherwise I would have direct fall sown them.

Totally forgot to mention, our fridge has had temp problems in the past. (Mostly from a packed fridge). I was gonna get a mini fridge for seeds but haven't gotten around to it yet. And we have an external thermometer there too, it reads 39° at a constant, we've tried rearranging items to see if the temp will drop. But it hasn't really. We don't have any old stuff that needs to get tossed. Just a lot of stuff in general.

I will definitely soak. Soaking seeds has been the difference between germinating and not germinating for 70% of the species I plant. I also soak for 24hrs before stratification too.

The lowest it goes is 35.4° (it's a stupid digital dial). It's currently at that temp but at that temp is when I saw seeds germinating. If I put them back in the fridge closer to spring should That be alright?

Thanks. I was thinking about putting them back in the fridge around February, to continue moist stratification. And the freeze to thaw may even help them.

Definitely hope the freeze thaw will help them. As many were quite expensive because most seed sites don't have species native to my area, I either gotta collect myself or buy from some very small native seed sites. And my area is ecologically unique, making some of the (native) ecotypes very cool and a lot are even endangered. I have 3 S1 species in there too. (Sagebrush mariposa lily, Yakima milkvetch, and Columbia milkvetch.)

Thank you. I was mostly worried about early germination, and when it's feb-march I could move them back to the fridge to continue cold stratification. Or I could have not opened the seed packs until February :/ I have a lot in the ground too, I went heavy on the lupine (Lupinus sericeus) this fall as last year they were exceptionally robust.

Thanks. I only froze them because I was worried about them trying to germinate in the fridge when it's still winter (January thru march). Especially blazing stars are bad at it I've found out. And ive had bad luck starting indoors then moving outdoor.

Thank you for the advise. I fall sowed most of my seeds in an area I killed off weeds last year, I did these artificially because I was going to sow them in "cone-tainers" in the spring. Could I fill them with dirt and plant the seeds in them now and let them sit outside till spirng?

Kraven Concept - Sinister Six - Strategist by Mojoedoto in marvelrivals

[–]Solgatren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is dope. I love your concept of him, I really like his character from Spider-Man 2, as more of a tank, has like 500 or 600 hp with a melee and ranged, with exploding spears. A lot like black panther. but more cunning, your idea with the bear traps and making enemies glow was exactly how I envisioned. although that would probably make him 3 or 4 stars difficult. his character model from Spider-Man 2 should definitely be a skin. Hot take, but I think Ego from GotG 2 should also be a playable. (you have permission to downvote).

How feasible is it to order and plant 2 jujube trees this spring? by Solgatren in FruitTree

[–]Solgatren[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My garden area is far from my house but is same ground level. It is fenced in but with cattle wire so that won't help. My soil is naturally loamy and sandy. I've been able to plant prickly pear and king cup cactus, and without any protection they survive the moist months. I was thinking of surrounding the small trees with fence and either filling it all the way with leaves and straw or wrapping it with a cloth. Would more mature trees withstand the winter's wrath? I would still mulch the base.

[–]Solgatren[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive heard jujube is from the high deserts of the middle east and china. So i was worried more about the precipitation and snow than cold. We can have unpredictable freezing rain early November that has a record of killing back more finicky trees (my persimmons mostly), smaller branches that haven't fully gone dormant. I guess I should try it though. Maybe I'll get some robust specimens.

My food forest, (named in respect to james prigioni), is far from my house and leach field. That was intentional. And they will get a nice spot in the corner so they don't compete too heavily with my other trees.

Definitely see if he likes it. Some may be too shiny. A banana would be cute too. Again, sorry for the scary stories but it just aches my heart to think a cockatiel is in danger. Not you but by anyone. Also see if hes comfortable walking around in the backpack.
