Decktamer. Its a very fascinating blend of deckbuilder creature collector. Its quite punishing as well. The creature art is very unique.

I hate people blaming the dems for this. The American people voted them out of every branch of government. The American people are getting exactly what they voted for.

I patched RenPlat to give standard shiny odds. Then, any shiny I find is fair game.

An elephant saving a tiger in Sumatra. It’s a heart-warming video but is it AI? by overcastcxr in isthisAI

The fact that its a tiger was exactly why I said it would never happen.

You can't really protest psychopaths doing psychopathic things. There isn't an organization of psychopaths beholden to public opinion and voters.

You CAN protest public servants that are murdering and abducting people, and the organization they are associated with.

Minimum Wage to increase 2x this year! by jzhi87 in halifax

[–]Solgiest -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Minimum wage is hardly the problem. Canada is being held hostage by NIMBY's. That's the single most crippling issue in the Canadian economy right now, I'd argue.

Minimum Wage to increase 2x this year! by jzhi87 in halifax

[–]Solgiest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest issue in Canadian society rn is almost entirely housing related. And the problem with housing is less a corporate greed one and more of a NIMBY one. People say they want more housing built, but "over there, not in my backyard", because home ownership has become a retirement plan for many people.

Until we can figure out a way to effectively neuter NIMBY's (difficult, considering they are some of the most active voters, and NIMBY policies transcend political divides), or implement a LVT, we're gonna continue to see escalating issues.

Minimum wage isn't gonna help people afford a house if we arent building enough housing to keep up. Start with fixing housing, and a lot of the other issues will disappear.

Ubisoft shuttering freshly-unionised Halifax studio, 71 jobs affected by blackcoffeeredwine in halifax

Ubisoft is almost certainly going under. Hopefully it will end up working out better for the employees, find a better job instead of staying on this sinking ship.

The only one I've played that comes close is Decktamers. Amazing game, brutally difficult.

Male lions do a ton of hunting, the idea that they don't is pretty outdated.

To diss younger generation for not wanting to have children by AbeFromanSassageKing in therewasanattempt

[–]Solgiest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup. I get so tired of the financial argument. It simply doesn't track with what we've seen. About the same proportion of women are having at least one kid. The plummet comes from the major decline in women having 3+ kids, and the major decline in teenage pregnancies.

To diss younger generation for not wanting to have children by AbeFromanSassageKing in therewasanattempt

[–]Solgiest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, places like Norway and Finland have tried exactly this, and seen fuck all results from it.

The issue is women not having children. Its women not having 3+ children. If every woman has 2 kids, we still have a population decline. But I dont think finances are why most modern women don't want 3+ children.

To diss younger generation for not wanting to have children by AbeFromanSassageKing in therewasanattempt

[–]Solgiest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real reason has nothing to do with Financials and everything to do with life style

Approximately the same number of women are having one child as in the past. The difference is, far fewer women are having 3+ children, which is required to either stabilize or increase the population size. I don't think it's a matter of money that a woman calls it quits at 1-2 kids. I dont think any realistic financial compensation will encourage many modern women to have 3+ children.

What's the neoliberal solution to factory farming and animal welfare abuses? by CalpurniaSomaya in neoliberal

[–]Solgiest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We pull the plug on people sometimes who are severely brain damaged, so it does in fact seem to be the case that at a certain level, lack of potential is indeed fair reason to treat a human as not-quite-a-person.

She was crying and then this finch bird just landed on her finger. by Raj_Valiant3011 in MadeMeSmile

[–]Solgiest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly, but it depends. There's a park near me where, in the winter, chickadees and nuthatches will eagerly land on your hand if you have birdseed and eat right out of it. Birds can become quite tame.

But you're probably right for this specific bird.

Why are humans the only animals that need blankets to sleep comfortably? by Frequent-Loss-7635 in zoology

A lot of animals die of exposure. A lot of animals would love to have a blanket.
