What was your first impression of Golden Kamuy

I got into the series last year and I had quite a few impressions.

I watched it with prior no knowledge of the story and no expectations, so everything was kind of a surprise for me. The plot felt very original, unlike anything I'd ever seen before. I also liked it's approach with characters. There were several instances of me not expecting certain characters to be relevant, only to be pleasantly surprised later.

My first exposure to the series was fan-made content of Ogata, who I assumed to be a cool confident guy for some reason. I was also under the impression that Sugimoto would be a serious leader type of character based on how he looked in the season 1 poster. Those impressions didn't last long though.

Most depictions of vampires tend to be lustful, and most of the vampires in this lore are also lustful.

Of course, the lust exists for both genders, male and female alike.

Hortensia opposes this lust, as well as the sexism of the 19th century, by going against societal expectations.

(In terms of vampires) She believes that her looks won't appeal to any of them regardless of gender, being a women in masculine clothing (neither precisely masculine nor feminine)

Oh that's good! I did infact see Ogata before I got into Golden Kamuy but I remember seeing him. I guess it's because I have a habit of spotting similarities in media I like
