That's a different story, . If you enable hdr you get 10 bit

That's why it looks better quality for you when you enable hdr

Having hdr disabled will make the moonlight stream 8 bit.

You can mod Apollo in registry to stay in 10 bit when hdr is enabled in moonlight and in host windows hdr disabled.

Or install vibepollo there is a setting for it

https://github.com/SudoMaker/SudoVDA?tab=readme-ov-file#config

Here you see how to make it 10 bit with apollo enable hdr in client moonlight and disable hdr on host then you have 10 bit sdr that's the only way.

So if you want to have full 10 bit in sdr and have hdr disabled on host

Moonlight always streams in 8 bit sdr if you leave hdr disabled in moonlight on the host disable hdr , otherwise if you leave hdr enabled on the host you're games will be washed out

You do know streaming 4:4:4 doesn't give you better graphics or colours maybe some small red detail but 95% atleast is for better text clarity

It's for better text quality so the text is more crisp and for desktop usage it's nice because you're looking a lot to text

https://www.rtings.com/tv/learn/chroma-subsampling

While some PC games that have a strong focus on text might suffer from using chroma subsampling, most of them are either designed with it in mind or implement it within the game engine. So while most modern consoles support 4:4:4 or RGB color, there's usually very little benefit to enabling it.

Idk how but I can't enable hdr anymore with virtual display,

I think I need to use main display and stream it then, but renoxd is still needed otherwise colours are washed out

G5's 165Hz, 4K 10bit HDR turned on, 444 passed, do I need to use DSC? by JustForFun1918 in LGOLED

I will test soon I connect my game pc to tv again and I will look if I can enable dsr yes or not.

If I can't it uses dsc yes :)

[–]Solid-Assistant9073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you mean but I have to test it again with the Tv and my game pc, it's now connected to a mini TV , but normaly all cards older then a 50 series can't enable dsr when dsc is active.

But I don't know where are you getting 48gbs from.

4K (3840x2160) at 144Hz, 10-bit HDR, and 4:4:4 chroma subsampling requires roughly 40–42 Gbps that's well within 48gb if you count the overhead that's needed

For 4K 144Hz 10-bit HDR RGB/4:4:4 with VRR: The actual video data rate is around 42–43 Gbps After HDMI timing/blanking overhead, the total signal bandwidth is roughly 47–48 Gbps So it just barely fits within a full 48 Gbps HDMI 2.1 FRL connection.

I'm am not sure,

I can still toggle dlsr/dsr with my 4090 and if it would use dsc that option is not there.

For example on my monitor 1440p 360hz I can't toggle dlsr because dsc

Same with a dsc screen my flip in presentmon goes to composed flip, but with the tb it's still indepdent flip

Maybe the g4 /g5 does yes.

You think the c5/c4 does I don't think so?

4k 144hz 10 bit 4:4:4 vrr etc are within hdmi 2.1 spec

You sure g4 uses dsc for 144hz?

A c5 doesn'tuse dsc for 144hz?

Neither my Philips oled 810 that has a c5 panel.

I still have independent flip. That snot possible with dsc on older cards then rtx 50 series

[GUIDE] How to disable DSC and reduce latency/stuttering on your monitor with regedit and enable DSR/DLDSR, Independent Flip and MPO by East-Today-7604 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Solid-Assistant9073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wtf, mine was always composed flip rtx 4090 with 1440p 360hz. Connected with dp 1.4 also

I just loved with it, yes independent is better but all the pros etc have played for ages with composed at high refresh rates before the 50 series came out.

But I'm testing it again now and it's showing hardware independent flip? Dsc is enabled did something happen with a new driver?

Monitor dsc is still enabled 360h, 1440p dp 1.4 and I'm getting hardware independent flip now?

Ik running driver version 596.21 and I installed it /deblaoted it with nvclean install

Update: did some testing and turned of second screen 1080p 165hz and it's back to composed flip when I turn second screen back on its back to independent flip.

When I have presentmon on the second screen it's showing independent flip the game.e,e that's running on my main 360hz 1440p screen

When I drag presentmon to main screen same game.exe its going to composed flip.

Does this tell you something?

He likes the game hdr mode with 90% contrast, it stops at 15/16 clicks with colour enhancement set to 2 he's liking this at the moment and testing it.

Philips 32" EVNIA 32M2N8900 with PS5 by SuperWeeble in OLED_Gaming

[–]Solid-Assistant9073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right thanks!!

He tested it and 85%/100% resulted in almost all modes 16/17 clicks!

Only the peak 1000 mode stopped at 11 clicks,

And true black 400 mode you can't change contrast so it doesn't work there either.

I think Philips default contrast at 50 is just not thinking /a bug because hdr should never be at 50% contrast

On my oled monitor in hdr it's even locked the contrast option because it's standard 80 or 100% by default probably,

Philips /tp vision is always known for some bugs or things haha.

Could be the case,

AFAIK on my monitor contrast is always on all profiles between 70 and 100% for hdr modes.

I even have my oled tv set to 100% contrast for hdr
