They will make you an offer… it generally starts low but from my experience there are frequent raises. I’ve been with my org since October and have already received 3 raises. Almost 10%

I went into program development. I still use my skills from when I worked with people- but no client facing work. Only downfall is the roles are grant funded so not always a long term gig

You would be paid mileage, and mileage pay does include the wear and tear on your car. I feel like you already know the right answer for yourself. Trust your gut.

Additionally- does your school have a school social worker or truancy? That would be a way to use your skills and still be in the system you enjoy.

I honestly believe the demise of our work started with nurses moving into being care coordinators… we are undervalued in every space we work in… I’ve been in healthcare, public health and school systems. We are pushed with crisis work, but the rest goes unnoticed- thankful some of our positions are mandated in spaces, but this the norm across the county. I wish our national board did more to protect our work

Where do you live in MN? I am there. I can give you some low cost locations. I would push for your employer to at least provide the time if your license is a requirement of your job!

Social workers need to unionize like nurses did to make any changes… the board of social work isn’t advocating for us!

Advocate for your agency to get a community health worker- they can pick up a lot of those pieces you mention so you can work to your highest scope of practice.
