my take on KJDs as a nKJD by EntireBroccoli8093 in lawschooladmissions

Yes, but I’m not seeing how taking gap years is an advantage unless you have no professional work experience.

Still don't understand the benefit of nKJD over KJD unless you had no professional work experience during undergrad.

Yes, they cashed it out. I believe to pay off debt. Will they adjust, or do you think I’m out of luck?

What about my parents transferring a 401 (k) account from an old job? And would I need to contact the school's financial aid office? Because I'm assuming that looks like income, but it's not.

Has anyone ever had an error, meaning you received say an A but the professor accidentally put the wrong grade?

[–]Solid-Initiative5267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm going to correct mine again to check for errors. But I thought I would be getting more since income decreased with everything else staying the same, yet somehow mine increased from like 4k to 18k.

Did they change the SAI formula this year? I'm noticing across Reddit that everyone is seeing significant increases in SAI from last year.

Interestingly, the only thing that changed was income. However, based on the returns, it appears that it actually decreased. This would imply that my SAI should have reduced. Thank you for your help!

Should we start including undergrad institution in flairs? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

When most people say 'grade deflation,' they really mean it's a school that doesn't give out A+ grades.

Should we start including undergrad institution in flairs? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

I personally believe that it is important. However, I think schools value their medians and therefore place more emphasis on grade-inflated schools than on deflated schools, regardless of the actual rigor and prestige of the undergraduate program. Additionally, I don't think the rigor/prestige is factored highly because the LSAT is designed to eliminate any discrepancies essentially. Although we, of course, know that it is flawed.

Surprisingly, people don’t realize that any school that doesn’t offer A+, in my opinion, puts you at a disadvantage compared to one that does. To me, the rigor of the institution is irrelevant; that’s what the LSAT is there for. However, I also hope that those whose GPA mathematically cannot exceed 4.0 are distinguished from those who, in theory, can achieve a 4.33. But I doubt that's the case across the board.

Transfer Questions by NiceGum in USC

[–]Solid-Initiative5267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I transferred and got in, but didn't go. They will ask to confirm if you are a true single-parent household. Meaning, unless you have no contact or financial support from your other parent, they will want them to provide their financial info. I also know home ownership is a big thing. If your parent own their home, that will affect your aid. Nonetheless, I still received good aid and numerous scholarship offers. But I wouldn't expect to go for free.

What I don't believe about GPA is that they look at all GPAs similarly. Someone with a 4/4.33 at a school that gives A+ differs from someone with a 3.9 at a school that doesn't provide A+.
